Bremen Town is a rural folk tragicomedy by Gregory Prest that tells the story of Frau Esel, a long-serving housekeeper fired from her job and propelled on a journey to reconnect with her estranged son. As she travels, she encounters a series of memorable characters that illuminate the struggles of aging and being left behind. Featuring a multi-award-winning cast, including Nancy Palk as Frau Esel, Sheila McCarthy, and William Webster, this world premiere at Tarragon Theatre combines live music with sharp storytelling, bridging humor and folklore. The production runs from September 30 to October 26, 2025.
