Asolo Repertory Theatre's New Stages Tour of MACBETH Embarks Today, 10/2

Asolo Repertory Theatre presents its New Stages Tour, an FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training production of MACBETH, from the play by William Shakespeare. This 60-minute adaptation includes post show discussions at each performance. Performances can be scheduled by contacting the Education & Outreach staff at Asolo Rep. Special Opening Night public performances in the Cook Theatre will be held on October 4 at 6:00 pm & 8:30 pm with a reception between performances, which is included in the ticket price.
FST's WRITE A PLAY Program Collaborates with National Blue Star Theatres Program for Military Families

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) has announced a new partnership between their WRITE A PLAY Program and the Blue Star Theatres program - an initiative from the Theatre Communications Group, the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, with funding from the MetLife Foundation - to build stronger connections between the theatre field and military families in communities across the country. FST will build on its already successful WRITE A PLAY Program, and will be working with schools on military bases throughout the Southeastern United States during the 2012-2013 school year.

Performances begin in the Gompertz Theatre today, September 25 and will play through November to more than 11,000 students from Sarasota and Manatee County schools.

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's EVITA opens at the Manatee Players on September 20 and runs through October 7. Performances are Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $26 including facility fee for adults, $15 including facility fee for teachers and $13 including facility fee for students. Tickets may be reserved by calling 748-5875 Monday - Friday from 9-5 and one hour before curtain on performance days or on the Manatee Players' website: www.manateeplayers.com. All performances are at 102 Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton.

Robert Kelly Plays Side Splitters Comedy Club, Now thru 9/8

Robert Kelly has been winning over audiences for the last 18 years. In addition to clubs and colleges nationwide, Kelly has traveled across the country in the 'Tourgasm Live' tour with Dane Cook and Gary Gulman. He is a regular on the Opie and Anthony radio show and has performed at the 'Just For Laughs Festival' in Montreal (2008 and 2010). He has also appeared at the South Beach Comedy Festival, HBO's Comedy Festival (Las Vegas), and the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival (Aspen 2007). In 2009, he performed for over 1 million people in 80 arenas across the country as a feature on Dane Cook's, 'Isolated Incident Tour.'
