New Stage Theatre kicks off its inaugural season with a family-friendly comedy entitled 'Maybe Baby, It's You' starring local favorites Alison Burns (voted best actress twice by the readers of Creative Loafing) and Chris Jackson. The show opens August 15th and runs through September 1st. The rest of the season includes the hit musical, 'Little Shop of Horrors', 'Holiday Party of One', 'Title of Show', and 'The Rainmaker'.

Carrollwood Players Theatre is now accepting submissions of new, never-before-produced One Act Plays for consideration to be featured on their stage during our 2013-2014 One-Act Play Festival. The One-Act Festival will take place from May 30 through June 1, 2014. Deadline for submission of scripts is (postmarked by) February 28, 2014.

Seating is festival style on a first come, first serve basis. All performances are at the Manatee Performing Arts Center at 502 3rd Avenue West in downtown Bradenton.

American Stage Theatre Company has announced the last production of their 2012-2013 Season on the Mainstage: ART by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. This production won a Tony Award for 'Best Play' and the Olivier Award for 'Best Comedy'. Previews are tonight and tomorrow, August 7 & 8. Opening Night is August 9 and the production runs through September 8.

For the first time in the Tampa Bay Area, American Stage Theatre is pleased to offer this unique program specializing in the art of long form improvisation training and performance. This program, divided into four sections, will guide participants through the foundations of improvisation as a performance medium and eventually place them in teams that will have the opportunity to perform in our Sunday Comedy Series**. All classes are taught by improv professionals. Our instructors have trained and worked with such groups as Second City and The Groundlings.
