Creative Loafing Welcomes New A&E Editor

Creative Loafing, Tampa Bay's alternative newsweekly, announced the hiring of a new Arts & Entertainment Editor today. Cathy Salustri, a frequent contributor to CL, was a longtime senior writer at the Gabber Newspaper in Gulfport, and has written for USA Today, Visit Florida, regional magazines and local press. Over the past year she has finished two books, created programming for the Gulfport Historical Society, and spoken across the state about Florida history and culture.

Asolo Rep proudly presents the regional premiere of two-time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro's effervescent music-infused comedy, LIVING ON LOVE, which premiered on Broadway in the spring of 2015. Directed by Peter Amster, who helmed last season's box office record-breaking production of The Matchmaker, previews are January 13 and 14 at 8pm, the production opens on Friday, January 15 at 8pm and runs in rotating repertory through Thursday, February 25 in the Mertz Theatre.

Jobsite Theater is making a substitution within the 2015-16 season, replacing Shakespeare's ANTONY & CLEOPATRA with another classic in Jean Genet's unequivocally literate 1947 play THE MAIDS. This production runs the same dates scheduled for A&C, April 29 - May 22, 2016, in the Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center where Jobsite is resident theater company.

The FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training continues its 2015-16 season with Tony-nominated playwright David Ives' adaptation of Pierre Corneille's classic French farce THE LIAR. Known for his witty and edgy adaptations, including Venus in Fur and The School for Lies, David Ives' THE LIAR was praised by the Washington Examiner as 'astonishingly fresh, funny, and totally appealing to modern audiences.' Directed by guest artist Justin Lucero, THE LIAR previews in the Cook Theatre at the FSU Center for Performing Arts on Tuesday, December 29 at 7:30pm with a special 'Pay What You Can Performance,' officially opens on Wednesday, December 30 at 7:30pm, and runs through Sunday, January 17.
