'Tis the season! Step Up Productions is pleased to continue its 2014-15 season with the return of its wildly popular HoliDaze, a hilarious and heartwarming line-up of original holiday-themed short works by Kristiana Rae Colon, Dana Lynn Formby, Aline Lathrop, Steven Peterson, Joshua Rollins and Steve Simoncic playing through December 21, 2014 at Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Cocktails named after some of the show stopping musical numbers from the smash Broadway musical CHICAGO greeted the cast, crew, and guests at a post-performance party at Marti's, a bistro in the French Quarter, late Tuesday night. CHICAGO's current tour cast, headlined by Bianca Marroquin (Roxie Hart), Terra C. MacLeod (Velma Kelly), John O'Hurley (Billy Flynn in select cities), Jacob Keith Watson (Amos Hart), Roz Ryan (Matron 'Mama' Morton), and C. Newcomer (Mary Sunshine), kicked off CHICAGO's 16th U.S. Tour at the newly reopened atmospheric theatre in NOLA, the 2,736-seater Saenger Theatre along Canal Street, with a rapturous standing ovation from a packed audience earlier that evening.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents William Shakespeare's towering epic King Lear, directed by CST Founder and Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and featuring Chicago theater legend Larry Yando in the title role. A wrenching story of love, loss and reconciliation, the unraveling of an imperious king has fascinated audiences for more than 400 years. Gaines brings audiences a King Lear for our times, especially relevant as today's generation wrestles with the harrowing effects of aging on loved ones. Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST), the City of Chicago, Chicago Park District and Boeing partner to present the annual citywide summer tradition, Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks. This summer, 26 performances of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream travel to 18 neighborhood parks across Chicago, FREE FOR ALL, now through August 17, 2014. Chicago, IL-The League of Chicago Theatres celebrated the Chicago theater industry and community during its elegant annual Gala on Monday, June 9, 2014. This one-night-only event brought together friends of Chicago theatre and raised $120,000 for programs to support Chicago's 240 member theatre companies. Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) celebrated the enduring vitality of Shakespeare on Monday, June 16 with GALA 2014 at its home on Navy Pier, raising nearly $1.2 million for Chicago Shakespeare in Urban Communities. Three hundred and fifty of Chicago's civic, corporate and cultural leaders attended the event benefitting CST's civic engagement and education initiatives, including the citywide summer tradition Chicago Shakespeare in the Parks and Team Shakespeareeducation programs.

American Theater Company continues its 2013-2014 Season with the Chicago Premiere of Sons of the Prophet, written by Stephen Karam, and directed by Artistic Director PJ Paparelli. Sons of the Prophet will run now through March 9, 2014, at American Theater Company, 1909 W Byron St, Chicago, IL. Press opening is tonight, February 4, at 7:00 pm. Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) presents William Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines. Embraced by audiences as one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies, The Merry Wives of Windsor is an energetic romp with the lovable rogue Sir John Falstaff, performed by Scott Jaeck, as he charms and conspires against the townspeople of Windsor, only to be outsmarted by Mistress Page and Mistress Ford, performed by Kelli Fox and Heidi Kettenring. Chicago Shakespeare's production will transport audiences to post-war England in the late 1940s with a soundtrack of spirited dance music.
