The Argyle Theatre is currently presenting Disney's Mary Poppins, directed by Evan Pappas, associate director and choreographer Debbie Roshe, with musical direction by Jonathan Brenner, through December 31, 2023. Anchuli Felicia King’s adaptation of Wong Shee Ping’s serialized novel THE POISON OF POLYGAMY helps resurrect a largely forgotten work while providing a cautionary tale for contemporary Australian culture. 

Walnut Street Theatre continues its 213th season with a world premiere adaptation of a classic mystery with Sherlock Holmes – The Adventure of The Speckled Band. Written and directed by Walnut favorite Bill Van Horn, the production begins previews February 22, opens March 2, and continues through March 27 on the Walnut’s Mainstage.

Beck Center has a sterling reputation of cultivating talented performers who go on to success in hit Broadway shows and associated tours. Some of the theatre's alums will perform in a virtual engagement which runs March 5 to March 28, 2021, as part of Beck Center for the Arts' 87th Professional Theater Season.

Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw, under the leadership of Artistic Director David Staller, continued its 12th Season with its 123rd concert presentation, Shaw's two one-act comedies Press Cuttings and Dark Lady of the Sonnets, last night, May 22, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street). TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 2016/2017 season with a musical saga of immigrant America, Rags. From the creators of Fiddler on the Roof and Wicked, this exhilarating musical follows the journey of Jewish immigrants Rebecca and her son David, who find themselves navigating the teeming, turn-of-the-century tenements of New York. A soaring, tuneful score (music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz) illuminates this sweeping saga (book by Joseph Stein) of dreams and disillusions, love lost and inspiration found, and the heart and soul of the American character. It was declared "A winner, warm and witty. You are tempted to rise cheering," by The Mercury News. Rags will be directed by TheatreWorks Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, who notes "this production could not be timelier. As America debates immigration policies, what better time to present this deeper look at the newcomer's experience." This bitter farce is set in 1910 France. There we meet self-absorbed and blustery General Leon Saint-Pe and his infatuation with Ghislaine, a woman with whom he danced at a garrison ball some 17 years earlier.  A married man trapped in a loveless marriage to his hypochondriac wife, the General pines for true love, his lost youth, and the courage to move forward.  

In JACK LEMMON RETURNS, the legendary actor's son Chris takes the audience through highlights of his father's career. There is, of course, lots of laughter but also poignant moments about the elder Lemmon's total preoccupation with his career, to the detriment of his satellite family's relationship with him.

The Palace Theater, Wisconsin Dells' newest professional theater, 564 Wisconsin Dells Pkwy South, gifts audiences this holiday season by bringing to the stage the world's most beloved nanny, Disney's MARY POPPINS previewing November 19, opening Monday, November 24 at 7 p.m., and running through January 3, 2015. The all-star cast is led by Jessica Lorion Haugh (National Tour of Disney's Beauty & the Beast) who will fly through the air as 'Mary Poppins,' Kyle Szen (National Tour of A Christmas Carol) as 'Bert,' Eddie Urish (National Broadway Tour of Memphis the Musical) as 'George Banks,' and Rebecca Kostell as 'Winifred Banks.' MARY POPPINS is directed and choreographed by Multi Jeff Award-winner Marc Robin and co-directed by Buddy Reeder. Nationally known stand-up comedian and actor, Tom Dreesen, long time guest of The Tonight Show and The David Letterman Show will serve as the emcee at the opening night performance on November 24.

DISCORD brings three great thinkers together in a room which appears to be a holding cell for heaven. They enter according to the time period in which they lived: first Thomas Jefferson, then Charles Dickens, and finally Count Leo Tolstoy. When each enters through the only door, it closes and locks, blocking the only way out. Thus begins their examination of why they have been brought together, what they could possibly have in common, and how can they possibly escape? It's a blistering battle of wits for the ages.

Amas Musical Theatre presented yet another marvelous event at The Players Theater as part of its Six O'Clock Musical Theatre Lab: a staged reading of The Countess of Storyville.
