Tuesday night at DPAC was a good news/bad news situation. The bad news: the much-publicized Christie Brinkley was not able to perform her role of Roxie Hart in Chicago, due to illness. The good news: Bianca Marroquin was flown in from NYC, right from the Broadway production of Chicago to fill in for Brinkley. The best news: Marroquin is brilliant! A dark musical comedy, Chicago delivers the answers to the questions above, along with steamy dancing and powerhouse vocals. We follow Velma Kelley (Christine Dulong) and Roxie Hart (Jessi Trauth*), two murderesses with only one thing in common; they both killed in a moment of passion to obtain fame. Set in the roaring 20's, the city of Chicago is the backdrop to the jazz-laden, booze-filled decadence of the times. Hilarity and tongue-in -cheek court room drama ensue as the ladies of the Cook County Jail fight for their "innocence".
