NEWSIES welcomes back original cast member Capathia Jenkins in the role of 'Medda Larkin'. Jenkins, who originated the role on Broadway, begins performances tonight, July 15 and will remain with the hit musical through its final performance on August 24.

Giuseppe Bausilio, who starred on Broadway in 'Billy Elliot' and is currently appearing on Broadway in 'Newsies,' while co-starring Off-Broadway in 'Irving Berlin's America,' is the only actor in New York simultaneously appearing in two shows.

Multi-Tony Award-winning screen-to-stage musical hit NEWSIES announced its closing date earlier this week a new retrospective video featurette celebrating the highs of the production thus far as well as announcing the forthcoming national tour has been unveiled via the show's official Facebook page.

This Just In! Intended initially for a limited run, and turning into a 2+ year hit, Newsies, featuring a score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, will play its final performance at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre onS unday, August 24, 2014 prior to launching its national tour in October. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies is directed by Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, was presented earlier this week in Shubert Alley, between Broadway and 8th Avenue and 44th and 45th Streets. To add to the festivities leading up to the Tony Awards, the free outdoor concert in the heart of the Theatre District celebrated Broadway with star appearances and exciting performances from over 20 new shows and long-running favorites, accompanied by a live 12-piece orchestra. Brigham Young University's a capella group Vocal Point pulled together 85 student performers and crew members to stage a showstopping, stripped down one-shot tribute to NEWSIES - and they undoubtedly succeeded.. Check it out below!

Rosie O'Donnell, one of Broadway's biggest supporters, went to see the Tony Award-winning smash-hit musical Newsies at the Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st St.) this weekend. Following the performance, Ms. O'Donnell went backstage to meet the cast, later tweeting, 'LOVED IT SO MUCH - amazing talent on that stage!' In celebration of one million guests visiting the Broadway musical NEWSIES, the cast show off their favorite fan gifts that they have received over the show's run.

Cecile Azarcon, esteemed Original Philippine Music (OPM) composer-lyricist, and premier local band Sounds of Manila (SOM), together with renowned musical director-arranger Lorrie Ilustre, are set to fill up the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space (2537 Broadway and 95th Street) via their concert titled 'An Evening of Original Philippine Music with Cecile Azarcon and Sounds of Manila' on Sunday, April 27, at 7 p.m.

The Broadway League will soon launch KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY, Monday, February 24, 2014 to Sunday, March 2, 2014. KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY is an audience development program created by The Broadway League to make theatre accessible, encourage theatre as a form of family entertainment, and build larger audiences for the future. Disney Theatrical Productions will hold an open call audition for male dancers for both the Broadway and upcoming North American touring productions of Newsies, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical smash, in Los Angeles on Saturday, February 8 at 11am at the Hollywood United Methodist Church (6817 Franklin Avenue/Los Angeles, CA 90068). This audition will be first come, first serve and is for technically-trained Equity and non-Equity male dancers between 16 - 22 years old of all ethnicities who can tap and sing well.
