Mamai Theatre Company announces its 2017 summer season will take place in downtown Cleveland at Playhouse Square in the Helen Rosenfeld Lewis Bialosky Lab Theatre. Mamai Board of Directors President David Schiopota states, "The steady and unfaltering work of Co-Artistic Directors Bernadette Clemens and Christine McBurney to fulfill their vision and follow their artistic passions has enthused Northeast Ohio audiences and pushed the bounds of classical theatre in Cleveland. Ann Arbor's Penny Seats Theatre Company is set to open its seventh season this year, with four shows, the largest season the company has ever attempted. Through an operational support grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts, the company has expanded its offerings and will have a year-round presence.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company officially opens its 2016-2017 mainstage season with "The Diary of Anne Frank", adapted by Wendy Kesselman from the play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, based on "The Diary of A Young Girl" by Anne Frank. This production, playing September 9 - October 1, 2016, is directed by Jeremy Dubin, Artistic Associate at Cincinnati Shakespeare, and features Courtney Lucien, last seen on Cincinnati Shakespeare's stage in the titular role in last season's smash hit Emma. This production is generously sponsored by Macys, Raymond James, and Oswald. The season is sponsored by The Otto M. Budig Family Foundation, ArtsWave, and the Ohio Arts Council.

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance has appointed choreographer Brian Brooks its first ever Choreographer in Residence. This Residency provides $600,000 over three years that will fund choreographer compensation, commissioning, and production support. The new Residency will provide encouragement and allow choreographers to focus on creating one-to-three new works each season without the constraints of financial pressures, while providing financial support to mount and produce the new works set upon regional, national, and international dance companies.
