Revival Theatre Company Announces 2016-2017 Season
Revival Theatre Company announces their 3rd season for 2016-2017, featuring Iowa and Eastern Iowa premieres. Revival will continue with their mission of producing cutting edge, thought-provoking musical theatre with its new lineup of shows.
The season will open November 17-19 with Evita. Lyrics by Tim Rice, Music By Andrew Lloyd Webber. Evita is based on the passionate and tragic story of Argentina's most famous and polarizing political figure, Eva Peron. This Tony award winning show has become one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's most famous and beloved scores. Performing at Sinclair Auditorium, Coe College. Sponsored by Physicians' Clinic of Iowa, P.C. Revival will kick off 2017 with their second show of the season. Grey Gardens. Book by Doug Wright, Music by Scott Frankel, Lyrics by Michael Korie. Opening February 23-26 at CSPS Hall (Legion Arts) A new musical based on the eccentric documentary of the same name, which tells the story of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' aunt Edith Bouvier Beale and her daughter "Little" Edie. The hilarious and heartbreaking story features a diverse and delightful musical songbook.
June 1-4 2017 will round out the season with the musical comedy Victor/Victoria Book by Blake Edwards, Lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, Music by Henry Mancini, Additional Music by Frank Wildhorn. Performing at the Dows Fine Arts Center, Coe College. What's a down-and-out British soprano, who struggles to find work in a Paris nightclub in the 1930's supposed to do? Dress as a man playing a woman, of course! Based on the movie and Broadway musical starring Julie Andrews. Sponsored by United Fire Group.
