At Gypsy of the Year 2016, cast members from The Lion King performed a moving spoken-word piece giving voice to those marginalized by the current political climate performed by cast members Lamar Baylor, Kimberly Marable, Matthew Morgan, Brenda O'Brien and L. Steven Taylor.

Disney Theatrical Productions announced today that THE LION KING North American tour will unveil a newly-configured production in October 2017, allowing the award-winning musical to entertain new audiences in cities and venues which previously couldn't accommodate the show.

Disney's The Lion King concluded its second triumphant engagement in Dayton on Sunday, July 3 at the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center. The four-week return grossed over $5 million at the box office and entertained nearly 68,000 patrons during 32 performances. The award-winning musical's four-week premiere engagement in 2011 played a record-breaking run at The Schuster Center.

Disney Theatrical Productions celebrates several 2015 milestones for its hit Broadway productions of The Lion King and Aladdin and the North American touring productions of The Lion King and Newsies.

The Lion King broke the eight-performance-week house records on Broadway and on the North American tour at their respective theatres, The Minskoff Theatre and Chicago's Cadillac Palace, for the week ending December 27, 2015.
