TheatreWorks Silicon Valley continues its 51st season with the hit musical Ragtime. This sweeping and stirring musical masterpiece paints a portrait of America at the dawn of the twentieth century, interweaving the lives of three families—an African American family, a Jewish Immigrant family, and a wealthy white family—finding their places and pursuing the American Dream in a rapidly changing world. Featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Pulitzer Prize finalist Terrence McNally (Master Class, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Rink) and a Tony Award-winning score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Once on This Island, Anastasia, Seussical The Musical), this musical is based on E. L. Doctorow’s best-selling novel of the same name. Ragtime will be presented June 1-26, 2022 (press opening: June 4) at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for Follies by James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim. The musical will run on the San Francisco Playhouse Mainstage from June 30 through September 10, 2022. Bill English will direct, with music direction by Dave Dobrusky and choreography by Nicole Helfer. This marks the first fully staged professional production of Follies in San Francisco.

Internationally renowned award-winning Saxophonist Mike Phillips has released a new smooth jazz single, 'City Lights.'​​​​​​​ 'CITY LIGHTS' was written by Claude Villani and produced by Hamilton Hardin. 'I had the melody for City Lights in my head for years and one day I played it for Mike and he really connected with it and well, the rest is history,' mentions Claude Villani. 'It always reminds me of a summer day when I hear it,' he adds.

Virginia Arts Festival has cast one of Broadway's leading lights in the role of a new, key position at the Festival: The Goode Family Artistic Advisor for Musical Theater and American Songbook.

Cole Porter, the most Francophile of the big five American composers of the American songbook, with Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, and Richard Rodgers, spent almost a decade in Paris just after World War I immersing himself French language and culture and developing his craft as a composer and lyricist of sophisticated and semi-autographical ditties full of double entendre, trying them out as a dilettante pianist in the party scenes of the roaring 20s not only in Paris but also in Venice, before taking on Broadway by storm the following decade.

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre has announced that single tickets are on sale for Designing Women, running Tues-Sun, January 18 through February 6.

The series will be presented entirely in person at MoMA's Debra and Leon Black Family Film Center in the Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters from December 1, 2021, through January 12, 2022.

With one of the more memorable rock and roll scores of the 20th century, THE WHO’S TOMMY has been entertaining, exciting, confounding, and stimulating listeners for over 50 years. And with its current production of this iconic score (now full-fledged musical), Titusville Playhouse thrills, challenges and delivers an electric and energetic two hours of theatrical magic that simply rocks.

In a dark, mauve-curtained room, on the fourth floor of a hotel, around 7:15 p.m. on August 26th, the lights began to dim, and a scattered audience of socially distanced cabaret goers erupted into cheers and applause as Ellen Marlow bounded onto the stage. Marlow was at The Green Room 42 performing 'Silver Linings'.

If there were a secondary title to the Columbus Immersive Theater’s production of CARRIE, it would be There Will Be Blood. Lots of blood, in fact.
