Austin Playhouse announces that after 60+ years of producing theatre in Austin and beyond, Founder and Co-Producing Artistic Director Don Toner will step down from his role as Co-Producing Artistic Director. Current Co-Producing Artistic Director Lara Toner Haddock will continue alongside recent additions to the leadership team, Associate Artistic Directors Ben Wolfe and Sarah Fleming Walker.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents Rita Rudner on Thursday, April 7 at 7:30pm.  One of the country's top comedians, Rita Rudner brings her sharp wit, droll observations and genius one-liners to Samueli Theater. In her famously soft-spoken delivery, Rudner kills with hilarious and true observations about the differences between men and women, marriage, kids, aging, Botox and, of course, shopping (her favorite pastime).

The Elliot Smith cover is taken from Letting Off The Happiness: A Companion - part of their forthcoming Companion series releases, the first three of which are to be released. The tour will be a continuation of shows performing songs from their most recent album, Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was, as well as selections from their catalog.

Exciting jazz programming is on the slate at Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater running December 13 - December 26. 

The series features three Tony Award® winners and critically-acclaimed powerhouse talents: Stephanie J. Block (The Cher Show) on January 7; Santino Fontana (Tootsie) on February 5; and Laura Benanti (Gypsy) on March 26.

Ice Theatre of New York will perform at the Winter Holiday Skating Celebration and Tree Lighting at the Ice Rink at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 4pm. The ITNY ensemble and apprentice performers will be joined by synchronized skaters from The Skyliners, members of the young women's empowerment group Figure Skating in Harlem, performers from the Riverbank Figure Skating Club, and the Sky Rink All Stars.

Tonight, NBC will air its sixth live musical production. Following in the footsteps of The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, The Wiz, Hairspray, and Jesus Christ Superstar, the peacock network will be presenting Annie. Based on Harold Gray's comic strip titled Little Orphan Annie, this musical tells the story of a little orphan with equal measures of pluck and positivity who charms everyone's hearts, despite a next-to-nothing start in New York City in the year 1933.

November has been a very busy month for musical theater in Paris. On top of the big shows opening at Mogador, Théâtre du Gymnase, and Théâtre de Paris, the Auguste Théâtre has been hosting a very intimate musical entitled Simply Musicals: Manila, London, Paris. Produced by Pinoy Jam Paris in patnership with the association Paris Broadway Saigon in 2012, it is a cabaret show with a storyline showcasing the talented baritone Dennis Astorga and the delightful soprano Charley Magalit, accompanied by the magic fingers of musical director Thomas MacFarlane at the piano.

It’s Holiday time in New York City and theater and cabaret are returning. However, one of the legendary venues and it’s main attraction for the Christmas/New Years entertainment tradition is missing. Cafe Carlyle and Steve Tyrell. Since 2005 Steve has been a fixture in the Cafe at this time of year but Cafe Carlyle has not re-opened yet so Steve made a brief one night stop over during his current tour to entertain his legions of fans at SONY Hall last night. 

Billy, Klea and Jim are back for a twelfth year with their smash-hit holiday show... and lots of Christmas lights.
