ArtsFairfax, the nonprofit designated as Fairfax County's local arts agency, has revealed the 2026 ArtsFairfax Awards recipients, elebrated as the annual event to recognize visionary contributions to the arts countywide.

Florida Studio Theatre received a $10,000 grant from the Manatee Community Foundation to fund its WRITE A PLAY program, a year-round arts education initiative that has served over one million students since 1991.

Laura Linney will star in the world premiere of Montauk by David Hare and directed by Daniel Sullivan at Manhattan Theatre Club. The production will open on Broadway at MTC’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in Spring 2027.  

Tomorrow, April 25th, will mark the 32nd anniversary of the passing of vocal arranger, musical director, pianist, and musical genius James Raitt. He was only 41years old when AIDS took him from us far too soon. While James’ career was cut short, what he left us will always be a reminder of his many talents.

The star of the show, in the end, is Jacobson’s script, leading us toward the titular HELL MOUTH through five well-drawn characters and their existential crises that mirror our own.

Recently, Michael’s production of the new play, Incitation of the Dance, opened at Theatre West. Its title Inspired by Gene Kelly's 1956 film; Invitation to the Dance, this dark comedy explores the complexities of older gay relationships—described by one critic as a 'gay gray play.' Theater West End was wise to split Angels in America in the season as two separate performances, each with their own block in the schedule. Originally, I was concerned that the Part Two of it all might turn away prospective theatergoers. But upon watching both parts now, and bearing in mind my own familiarity for the characters, I can also see now how the original production’s 18-month gap would have also been enticing for an audience.
