New Conservatory Theatre Center Announces 2020-21 Season, Including Two World Premieres

New Conservatory Theatre Center has announced the line-up for NCTC's 2020-21 subscription season, looking beyond the current closure of local theatres and forward to a healthy future after the COVID-19 crisis.

Bergen County Players, one of America's longest-running little theater companies, is pleased to continue its 2019-2020 season with Christopher Durang's Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, a loving homage to playwright Anton Chekhov's themes of heartbreak and hope. Directed by Alyson Cohn, this hilarious Broadway sensation will be performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from March 21st through April 18th, 2020. Shows will be on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it is one passenger fewer. Shakespeare's Globe has announced the full cast for the 2020 Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank production of Macbeth, directed by Cressida Brown. This full-scale, fast-paced production is created especially for young people, and will open on Wednesday 26 February until Wednesday 25 March. This year, the demand was so high that over 18,000 free tickets were allocated to state secondary schools in London and Birmingham in just one day, with thousands more students expected to watch the production during its run.

Noel Pointer Foundation Receives $6.5 Million To Transform Long-Vacant Degraw Firehouse Into A Music Education Center

The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA), members of the City Council, and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams have announced that The Noel Pointer Foundation (NPF) has received $6.5 million in City capital funding to restore the historic firehouse located at 299 Degraw Street in Cobble Hill. NPF will be the non-profit cultural operator of the site pending completion of the renovation project. Formerly home to Fire Department Engine Company 204, the two-story, 18th century firehouse building was decommissioned in 2003. NPF plans to transform the long-vacant facility into a new center for music education and enrichment for New York City youth.

God Bless us, everyone! My childhood came back to me while witnessing the holiday classic A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. This annual production by Actors Theatre of Louisville hit all the high notes on opening night and delivered a magical feast for the eyes, ears, and heart. After four decades this production still thrills and delivers the message of redemption and kindness from the past, present, and future. I was so happy to experience it among many families and I especially enjoyed hearing and seeing children's reactions to the show.
