This October, Broadway treasure Kelli O’Hara is heading from the stage to the big screen—or at least, one of her stage performances is. O’Hara stars in Fallen Angels, the sparkling, dizzying, and deliciously potent Noël Coward comedy, coming to movie theatres this month, giving audiences everywhere another chance to see one of Broadway’s most celebrated leading ladies in action.

Recently, we had the chance to chat with the creator of Hadestown, Anaïs Mitchell. We discussed how her origins as a singer-songwriter set her on the path to Broadway, the journey Hadestown has been on since it first started in 2006 and even some of her favourite moments from the filmed version of the musical!

Costume designer Susan Hilferty – who amassed a mantel-full of awards, including the Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics’ Circle Awards, for the musical “Wicked,” being presented by Broadway In Boston at the Citizens Opera House through November 15 – got an early start on a career that so far includes 27 Broadway shows, including the Tony Award-nominated revivals of “Parade” (2023), “Funny Girl” (2022), and “Present Laughter” (2017) as well as 2005’s “Into the Woods” and 2006’s “Spring Awakening.”

Music supervisor and orchestrator Sam Davis exclusively tells BroadwayWorld how he’s freshening up ‘The Fantasticks’ for Broadway for its first production on the Great White Way.

The discourse surrounding reasons for reviving musicals on Broadway is a relatively recent phenomenon. These days, if a show is announced for a revival, a sentence that often follows is: “Why are they reviving it?”

For nine years, the Kindling Arts Festival has been bringing audiences together by giving local artists the chance to display their creativity. From July 23rd to the 26th this year, over one hundred and fifty local artists got to perform twenty-two shows spread across eight venues in Nashville.

The Complete History of American Musical Theater” series returns to the Odyssey Theatre with an exploration of landmark shows, songs, artists and innovations from The 1950s that helped define the Golden Age of the American musical. Through engaging narration and live performances, the evening celebrates classics including Guys and Dolls, The King and I, My Fair Lady, West Side Story and The Music Man. Featured performers include Eileen Barnett, Camryn Hamm, Scott Harlan, Hayden Kharrazi, Tony nominee Mary Gordon Murray and Tony nominee Rory O’Malley, with narration by Dan Fishbach and Mark D. MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT, the Tony Award-winning musical comedy gallops into Atlanta’s Fox Theatre July 21st–26th. I caught up with Delaney Benson to talk about life on the road, and the family legacy that helped shape her own theatrical journey.

Since The Lost Boys took Broadway by storm this spring, there has been much chatter about the “vampire curse” on Broadway being lifted. In the early 2000s, Broadway received a string of three vampire musicals, which all closed relatively quickly. Dance of the Vampires (2002), Dracula (2004), and Lestat (2006) each received attention in their own right, but they also received attention as a group, since it was remarkable that they came along in such quick succession. But the early 21st century wasn’t the first time vampires thirsted on Broadway. The play adaptation of Dracula was a hit all the way back in 1927 and an even bigger hit in a 1977 revival. And there have been vampires lurking in the theatre district in all sorts of other projects too…

The popular stage performer – an original cast member in the 2005 Broadway production of “Lennon” and the fifth Elphaba in “Wicked” – is currently making her Boston directorial debut with the Psych Drama Company production of “Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune,” which will be at the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza Black Box Theatre,

It's the end of an era on Broadway. As BroadwayWorld reported last month, the curtain has officially come down on Boneau/Bryan-Brown, the iconic Broadway press office founded by ATPAM-members Chris Boneau and Adrian Bryan-Brown, after more than three decades representing theatre on Broadway, Off-Broadway and around the world.

Much has been written about the proliferation of pop singer-songwriters writing new musicals for Broadway and off-Broadway. Less covered is the trend of pop singers performing on Broadway, which has made for a number of memorable appearances in current and recent seasons.
