Award-Winning Burlesque Documentary Partners with Bawdy Shop Burlesque & TUGG Theatrical Burbank, California - The world is opening their eyes to THE OLD STRIPPER. And she's coming to a local movie theater near you in Baltimore. Dixie Films has partnered with TUGG Theatrical and Bawdy Shop Burlesque to screen a special one-night theatrical event of the award-winning feature documentary film THE OLD STRIPPER at the Cinemark Egyptian 24 in Hanover, Maryland on December 5th . The film, made by the real-life Mother/Son filmmaking team Jack Truman and Opal Dockery, is an epic documentary film about a burlesque legend who travels across the country, coast to coast, visiting her old dancing cities of yesterday. Tugg, Inc. (www.tugg.com ) a web-platform that enables individuals to choose the films that play in their local theaters and create their own theatrical events, and Dixie Films, are excited to announce that THE OLD STRIPPER is available to screen nationwide through Tugg. The film is available through Tugg for special theatrical screenings across the country. The Baltimore screening will be the city's local premiere of the Tugg theatrical release. The award-winning film received top film honors at film festivals this summer in Des Moines, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Dockery was a burlesque dancer for over 20 years in the 1970's and '80's. Truman, her son, and director of the film, grew up on the road with her during her burlesque circuit. As a child, I was raised around nudity and pornography. And as a filmmaker, I want to open people's eyes to a world they know nothing about. Molly Yeo began dancing at four years old, while living in North Carolina - moving overseas with her family as an adolescent, where she trained in traditional Indonesian dance, subsequently studying internationally in Jakarta, Singapore, Malaysia and New Zealand. Returning to the states for high school, she trained at the Ballet School of Chapel Hill and with Duke University's dance department, ultimately performing with the Chapel Hill Dance Theater and appearing in Carolina Ballet's production of Giselle.

Georgia Ensemble Theatre (GET), the professional nonprofit theatre company in Roswell, is throwing a huge bash on Saturday, October 13, 2018, for its annual fundraiser. They are creating their own 1920s Speakeasy for this special night, so it's all very hush-hush (wink).

Telluride Film Festival, presented by the National Film Preserve, today announced its official program selections for the 45th edition of the Telluride Film Festival. TFF's celebration of artistic excellence brings together cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers and artists to discover the best in world cinema in the beautiful mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. TFF will screen over sixty feature films, short films and revival programs representing twenty-two countries, along with special artist Tributes, Conversations, Panels, Student Programs and Festivities. Telluride Film Festival takes place Friday, August 31 - Monday, September 3, 2018.

Martin Heidegger and Hannah Arendt were leading intellectuals of the twentieth century. In the 1920's, they had a passionate affair. In the 1930's, Heidegger became an ardent Nazi while Arendt became an ardent Zionist. Nevertheless, after the war, they still continued to correspond and to meet. Douglas Lackey dramatizes their relationship in 'Arendt-Heidegger: A Love Story,' a five-character play to be presented by Theater for the New City from September 27 to October 14. Its dialogue and action go beyond known facts, but everything in the play is consistent with them. Alexander Harrington directs.

'Hey Nonny Nonny!' 'Sigh No More!' Shakespeare's classic, playful comedy, Much Ado About Nothing, is this year's rip-roaring Season 5 opener for the vibrant, 30 by Ninety Theatre in Mandeville, Louisiana. This suburban playhouse, positioned just across the lake from New Orleans, is named for its' common latitude and longitude, but doesn't hold back on big city ambitions to invigorate, entertain, and challenge local audiences to grow from shared experiences through the stage. It is an idea not lost on Shakespeare himself nearly five millennials ago.

Obie Award winner Metropolitan Playhouse brings Philip Barry's first Broadway play, 'You and I' to the stage for its first New York revival in 95 years.   The limited run from September 7 to October 7, 2018, will be at the Playhouse home at 220 E 4th Street.
