Today’s subject Megan Fairchild has been dancing with New York City Ballet (NYCB) since 2001. She started as an apprentice before joining the company as a member of the corps de ballet. In 2005 she became a principal dancer. NYCB is performing Coppélia week at Kennedy Center in the Opera House and this evening, if you choose to attend as you should, You will see Megan Fairchild perform in the role of Swanilda. If you are unable to attend this evening, the ballet plays through March 30th.

This evening, or rather last evening, during their “Final Preview,” I was once again regaled to my seat with baited breath as I waited for the lights to fall on McDonagh’s masterpiece and, forthrightly, my favorite play, The Pillowman.

Kim David Smith, the provocative international singer and actor, will release the new album Mostly Marlene in digital and streaming platforms on 3/21. Smith will celebrate the album’s release with a special New York concert at Joe’s Pub that night.

Tallahassee, Florida’s Mayday Parade have announced a massive North American 20-Year Anniversary Tour this Spring. The nearly two-month long trek will feature music from every stage of their two decade career including hits, standards, deep cuts and new material.

Have you heard of Early Mountain’s Quaker Run Vineyard? It's one of Virginia’s most unique vineyard sites according to award-winning winemaker Maya Hood-White, who walks the vineyard daily and hasn’t seen any soils like it during her decades-long research in the region.

Janet Eilber was a high school senior at Michigan’s Interlochen School for the Arts when she first crossed paths with modern dance legend Martha Graham (1894–1991). After auditioning for Graham, the dancer and actor attended the Juilliard School at Graham’s recommendation, and subsequently joined the doyenne’s eponymous dance company where she became a soloist at age 21, dancing many of the roles made famous by Graham.

New Performance Traditions and Oakland Theater Project will present the San Francisco performances of Ghost Quartet, a song cycle about love, death, and whiskey from Tony-nominated composer and playwright Dave Malloy.

Dave Malloy's GHOST QUARTET will be performed in San Francisco from December 5-8, 2024. The show explores themes of love, death, and whiskey through a unique blend of music and storytelling.
