Led by Music Director Daniel Meyer, the concert also includes Verdi's Ballet Music from Macbeth, Debussy's Three Transcriptions for Trumpet and Orchestra, and Dvořák's Symphony No. 8.

2020 Sundance Film Festival Announces Juries

Sundance Institute will gather 25 celebrated and revered expert voices across film, art, culture and science to award feature-length and short films shown at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival with 31 prizes, announced at a ceremony February 1. Midsommer Flight has announced the five theater professionals who will participate in the inaugural session of the company's new 'Directors Flight' initiative. Announced in fall 2019, Directors Flight is a program with the goal of promoting, cultivating, and inspiring classical directing talent in Chicago. The announcement last fall included a call for applications to participate. Instead of a tuition-based model, Midsommer Flight has opted to pay each selected director a small fellowship stipend for their participation.

The concert features two works by Ablinger - IEAOV '8 Vitrines, Pigment Dust' for percussion and 4-channel electronics, featuring percussionist Ian Antonio, and Black Series, a collection of rigorously organized open-instrumentation works scored 'for Rock Band' which must be performed from memory - alongside a world premiere by Sam Pluta written for a sextet of Wet Ink.
