On Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 8:00pm, the Erie Philharmonic gives the world premiere of JUNO Award-winning Canadian composer Vivian Fung's Trumpet Concerto featuring acclaimed trumpet soloist Mary Elizabeth Bowden. Led by Music Director Daniel Meyer, the concert also includes Verdi's Ballet Music from Macbeth, Debussy's Three Transcriptions for Trumpet and Orchestra, and Dvořák's Symphony No. 8.

Lowell Milken Fund for American Jewish Music at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music proudly presents the first-ever UCLA American Jewish Music Festival on Sunday, March 1 at UCLA'S Schoenberg Music Building and Royce Hall. Sundance Institute will gather 25 celebrated and revered expert voices across film, art, culture and science to award feature-length and short films shown at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival with 31 prizes, announced at a ceremony February 1. Short Film Awards will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 28. The Festival takes place January 23 through February 2 in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah.

Midsommer Flight has announced the five theater professionals who will participate in the inaugural session of the company's new 'Directors Flight' initiative. Announced in fall 2019, Directors Flight is a program with the goal of promoting, cultivating, and inspiring classical directing talent in Chicago. The announcement last fall included a call for applications to participate. Instead of a tuition-based model, Midsommer Flight has opted to pay each selected director a small fellowship stipend for their participation.

Constellation's Frequency Series presents the 'sublimely exploratory' (The Chicago Reader) Wet Ink Ensemble on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 8:30 P.M. in Peter Ablinger + Sam Pluta, part of the Goethe Institute's weeklong celebration of Austrian composer Peter Ablinger's music, Listening With Peter Ablinger. The concert features two works by Ablinger - IEAOV '8 Vitrines, Pigment Dust' for percussion and 4-channel electronics, featuring percussionist Ian Antonio, and Black Series, a collection of rigorously organized open-instrumentation works scored 'for Rock Band' which must be performed from memory - alongside a world premiere by Sam Pluta written for a sextet of Wet Ink.

Gunpowder & Sky, a fast growing independent global entertainment company, announced today that it has acquired U.S. rights to filmmaker Neasa Hardiman's critically-acclaimed Irish sci-fi/thriller SEA FEVER following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Gunpowder & Sky will release the film theatrically in the U.S. in early 2020 through its sci-fi label, DUST.

Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) is pleased to announce ceramicist James C. Watkins as the recipient of its Texas Master Award. Described as a rock concert/standup special/ritual sacrifice' the show tells the story of Shakina's journey to Thailand for gender confirmation surgery in 2014.

For the fifth year, THROUGH HER LENS: The Tribeca CHANEL Women's Filmmaker Program will create new opportunities for women filmmakers. Tribeca and CHANEL, in collaboration with Pulse Films and Tribeca Film Institute (TFI), founded THROUGH HER LENS in 2015 to provide industry support, artistic development, and funding to emerging U.S.-based female writers and directors. Participants will gather in New York City for the program's 5th edition, which will run November 4-6, 2019.

The 'sublimely exploratory” Wet Ink Ensemble opens its 21st season in 2019-2020 with two performances at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival followed by a performance of the works of Columbia University undergraduate composers in NYC and a collaboration with vocalist Charmaine Lee and UK-based composers Kristina Wolfe, Bryn Harrison, and Pierre Alexandre Tremblay. The Wet Ink Ensemble is also thrilled to announce the official appointment of frequent collaborator, cellist Mariel Roberts, to the group beginning in the 2019-2020 season.
