Based on the film of the same name by Dale Launer, Stanley Shapiro & Paul Henning

Based on the popular 1988 film, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS is the musical story of two con men living on the French Riviera. After meeting on a train, they unsuccessfully attempt to work together only to find that this small French town isn't big enough for the two of them. To settle the score, they agree on a competition: the first one to extract $50,000 from heiress Christine Colgate wins and the other must leave town. A hilarious battle of wits ensues, that will keep audiences laughing, humming and guessing to the end! Mature language and themes.

Following the Globe engagement of Karen Zacarias's hilarious comedy directed by Edward Torres, Native Gardens will travel June 28 through July 1 to four of our community partner venues for free performances in South Bay, Lemon Grove, Otay Mesa, and Oceanside. Developed in the 2017 Powers New Voices Festival, it runs through June 24 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, and then hits the road! (more...)

The company's Founding Artistic Director Fred Anzevino made the announcement today at a gathering of company donors and friends that served as a farewell to the No Exit Cafe at 6970 N. When Debbie Read did her first Toronto Fringe Festival in 1989 as a house technician, she didn't realize she would be back every year for the next 29 years. Since that first Toronto Fringe, Debbie has gone from house technician to front of house staff, to volunteer. Along the way she has also produced and designed lights, but mostly - she stage managed: and she has never missed a single year. Her presence at the festival year after year is a sign that the Toronto Fringe builds loyalty not only among festival patrons, but also among the staff and volunteers that make the festival run. The Old Globe will once again share some of its favorite Shakespearean cinema as a complement to its stage productions with the return of Free Monday Night Film Screenings, presented in conjunction with the 2018 Summer Shakespeare Festival. Curated by the Globe's Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and introduced by KPBS's "Cinema Junkie" Beth Accomando, the films include Fred Wilcox's Forbidden Planet on July 9, Ralph Fiennes's Coriolanus on July 16, Orson Welles's Othello on July 30, and Ian McKellen's Richard III on August 27. Admission is free. Seating for each film is first-come, first-served and by general admission. The line begins one hour before each screening. (more...)
