Review: BACK TO THE FUTURE Musical Tour Zooms Into Segerstrom Center
by Michael Quintos - Jan 1, 2025

A riotous, mostly silly, but also sometimes laughably odd theatrical entity, this touring production of this enjoyable, endearingly-familiar stage musical adaptation of the hit 1985 sci-fi comedy is definitely a fun time—but mostly due to its visual wow factor. For those who cherish the original film, the musical is a delightful tribute. For newcomers or those seeking a deeper narrative experience, it's an entertaining-enough spectacle.

Student Blog: Back on the Horse
by Student Blogger: Michael Lakind - Dec 30, 2024

To me, theater is the coolest thing in the entire world. Perhaps it’s a naive sentiment coming from a college student who does not directly depend on theater as my livelihood, but I have never felt burnt out to the point where I question how much I want to be in another show. There have been a handful of times that I selfishly wished I didn’t have rehearsal so I could have a night in and relax, but after having too many of those kinds of nights, I realized how essential theater is to my bodily function.

Review: ALVIN AILEY at New York City Center is Doing its Best Work
by Lora Strum - Dec 20, 2024

There is no better time to be had than what The Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre offers audiences at its five-week residency at the New York City Center. The show, which consists of a rotating roster of new, returning and classic works, should be mandatory holiday viewing. It is White Christmas or The Rockettes, but for audiences who want less razzle dazzle and more joy, depth and authenticity.

Review: SOME LIKE IT HOT Sizzles and Shakes at Dr. Phillips Center
by Albert Gutierrez - Dec 19, 2024

When SOME LIKE IT HOT began on Broadway, it was celebrated for updating a classic film to modern audiences in ways and themes not readily apparent from the original source material. After having played a successful year-long run on Broadway, the show concluded on December 30, 2023. Nine long months later, it finally mounted a national tour within the greater United States. And now, for a spectacular pre-Christmas week, Central Florida gets to bear witness to the storied spectacle as Broadway visitors did. Much of what’s been seen on Broadway has been lovingly transferred to this touring production, making it a show not to be missed.
