When you think 'haunted houses' you probably don't picture the inside of a theatre. But with an over 100 year history, many of Broadway's most famous houses are positively teeming with reports of the supernatural.

On Friday, October 15, 2021, American organist Cameron Carpenter releases his first album on Decca Gold, a recording of J.S. Bach's The Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 juxtaposed with his own transcription of Howard Hanson's Symphony No. 2 in D-flat Major, Opus 30, W45, 'Romantic.' Both works are performed on the International Touring Organ, the American digital concert organ designed by Cameron Carpenter.

From the creators of Broadway's record-breaking musical comedy sensation, The Producers, comes 'Young Frankenstein' a monster of a hit musical based on Mel Brooks' classic comedy film masterpiece. This wickedly inspired re-imagining of the legend of Frankenstein is the story of the bright young doctor Frankenstein (that's Fronkensteen) who travels to Transylvania to complete the masterwork of his grandfather by bringing a corpse to life.

ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old. 

The START MAKING SENSE concert scheduled at the Warner Theatre on Saturday, September 10, 2021, has been postponed with a new date to be determined. 

Registration opens on September 14 for the fall 2021 semester at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Ringling College (OLLI at Ringling College), which runs September 27-November 19, 2021.

The Music Institute of Chicago has made the difficult decision to postpone Music in the Grove, the free block party celebrating its 90th Anniversary scheduled Sunday, September 19 at Nichols Concert Hall and on Grove Street in Evanston. The current plan is to reschedule the event in June 2022.

Westport Country Playhouse will open its all-virtual 2021 production season with the regional premiere of “Tiny House,” a timely new comedy about downsizing, going green, escaping urban life, and fresh starts, written by Michael Gotch, and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director.

Westport Country Playhouse, closed since March 2020 due to the pandemic, will kick-off its 90th anniversary year by bringing patrons back into its Jason Robards Theatre for a one-night-only virtual production of the new comedy, “Tiny House,” projected on a big screen mounted above the stage.

Ninety years ago on June 29, 1931, Westport Country Playhouse opened its doors to its very first stage production. This year, on the exact same day, the Playhouse will mark its 90th anniversary with the opening of the virtual production, “Tiny House,” written by Michael Gotch, and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director. The regional premiere of the timely comedy about escaping urban life in an isolated mountain paradise will stream on demand from Tuesday, June 29 through Sunday, July 18.

This new lab will be a dedicated educational space where students and the general public will be able to attend programs about the library's photographs, scripts, recordings, set models, costumes and other materials.
