BWW Review: THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: DREAM ON at The Winter Park Playhouse
by Joseph Harrison - Mar 29, 2022

What fun it is to take a stroll down memory lane and revisit the locations (and experiences) of our youth. Such journeys often include stops at familiar haunts, laughs at the fashions we thought were so hip at the time, and listening to the songs that served as the soundtrack to our formative years. Imagine, then, if you could roll all of those things into a musical, and you might get THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: DREAM ON – the current mainstage production at the Winter Park Playhouse. This fun, fabulous and fantastic time-machine of a show featuring four wonderfully talented women illustrates perfectly the kind of intimate, inviting and thoroughly entertaining production that The Winter Park Playhouse so often has to offer.

BWW Review: WINTER WONDERETTES at Swift Creek Mill Theatre
by Susan Haubenstock - Nov 24, 2021

This crowd-pleaser is lightweight, fizzy fun—maybe not so much Champagne as sweet sparkling cider, but effervescent nonetheless.

BWW Review: THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES at Ridgefield Theater Barn
by Sean Fallon - Dec 16, 2019

On Saturday, December 14, I had the pleasure of seeing THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES at the Ridgefield Theater Barn in Ridgefield, CT. This comedic musical has the audience laughing from start to finish, while keeping everyone entertained with great oldies songs from the 1950s and 1960s. The excellent singing and acting brings all four characters to life, under the writing of Roger Bean, direction of Foster Evans Reese, and musical direction of Benjamin McCormack who leads the talented live band that is onstage, in the back of the stage.

BWW Review: THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES, Upstairs at The Gatehouse
by Gary Naylor - Apr 12, 2019

The Marvelous Wonderettes is a jukebox musical that does exactly what it says on the tin - the four singers vocally splendid in front of a fine band.

BWW Review: THE WINTER WONDERETTES at Forum Theatre Company, A Wonderful Christmas Show with All Those Christmas Clichés
by Craig Richardson - Dec 26, 2018

Located at The Wilke Center inside First United Methodist Church at 330 N. Broadway is the Forum Theatre Company. BWW Review: Lyric Arts Presents Wonderette Cup of Irresistible Cheer
by Peggy Sue Dunigan - Dec 9, 2018

Bright colors and jingle bell music magically appear on the Lyric Arts Main Street Stage while the time of year leaps back into December, 1968. Harper's Hardware holds their end of year Holiday Happening, or the company's seasonal party, and everyone in the audience attends!  Lyric Arts presents both the inviting entertainment for the company's happening in sync with their own December production through this charming, kitschy in the best way, girl group musical revue: 'Winter Wonderettes.' Written and created by Roger Bean in 2003, with lyrics and arrangements by Brian Baker, this 'juke box musical' features catchy tunes to hum or rock out to while smiling 'all the way' through the evening, and then 'all the way home.'

BWW Review: WINTER WONDERETTES at Castle Craig Players
by Sean Fallon - Dec 9, 2018

WINDER WONDERETTES is playwright Roger Bean's new sequel to his previous hit jukebox musical comedy The Marvelous Wonderettes, which the Castle Craig Players produced last year.  The same brilliant director Ian Galligan brings back the same four extremely talented actresses who gel together with tighter harmonies and stronger stage chemistry than many touring bands have ever attained.  Chelsea Dacey, Emma Czaplinski, Jessica Engster, and Jennifer Del Sole reprise their roles of Suzy, Missy, Betty Jean, and Cindy Lou, respectively.  Musical director Chris Coffee leads the three piece backstage live band that accompanies the singers, enhancing the quality of this show that is marvelous all around with excellent acting, singing, dancing, and stage antics.
