To commemorate Whitman's 200th birthday on May 31, 2019, this landmark exhibition showcases New York's role in the extraordinary transformation of Walter Whitman Jr. to 'Walt Whitman, a kosmos, of Manhattan the son.' On public view at the Grolier Club from May 15 to July 27, 2019, the exhibition brings together over 200 extraordinary books, manuscripts, photographs, and other objects to show how this obscure young New Yorker transformed himself into one of America's great artists, the Poet of the Body: New York's Walt Whitman.

The National Puerto Rican Day Parade (NPRDP) Board of Directors announced additional themes and tributes that will make up its 2019 celebration. Under the theme, "One People, Many Voices," the Parade will continue celebrating the best of Puerto Rican culture and history, paying tribute to key historical figures and raising awareness on issues of importance in the community. The Parade also announced several distinguished Puerto Ricans that will round out its roster of honorees to march up Fifth Avenue on June 9.

Christopher Street West (CSW) – the 501(c)3 non-profit that produces the annual LA Pride Festival and Parade in West Hollywood presented by Verizon – is excited to announce this year's parade will include organizational and community grand marshals and be presented on television for the first time thanks to an exclusive three-year deal with KABC-TV. The New York City Gay Men's Chorus(NYCGMC) commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall, presenting the New York premiere of Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall50, a new choral suite written by a diverse group of LGBTQ composers, including Tony nominated singer/songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway, director of Broadway Inspirational Voices Michael McElroy, writer and producer on Golden Globe -nominated TV series Pose Our Lady J, musical theater composers Julian Hornik and Mike Shaieb, and Artistic Director of One Voice Chorus Jane Ramseyer Miller. The performance will directly coincide with when the Stonewall riots began, fifty years prior.
