FSCJ Artist Series has announced upcoming events for its 55th Anniversary Season.

FSCJ Artist Series will welcome a fabulous lineup of entertainment from Broadway and beyond to this Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts in 2022!

Sex and the City has returned for a new spin-off series, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. Read about the many Broadway appearances from the casts of different incarnations of the beloved franchise, including Chris Noth, David Eigenberg, Mario Cantone, and Kim Cattrall.

A native New Yorker, Neil Simon is recognized as Broadway's King of Comedy. Following his very successful 1961 production of COME BLOW YOUR HORN, Simon's name on a script basically meant instant box office sell-outs during the era from 1960-1980, the Great White Way's era of comic plays.

This season looks to be very exciting at the FSCJ Artist Series with Broadway productions, concerts, ballets, operas, comedy shows, dance productions, school performances and variety shows.

BBTF will be the first theatre festival to open again live at Theatre Row, 410 42nd St. NYC NY September 6 through October 3, 2021. COVID-19 compliant, BBTF looks forward to safely sharing the work of their originally scheduled 2020 Season playwrights, with five additional playwrights, to create the BBTF 2021 Season.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that actor John Karlen passed away earlier today at age 86 of congestive heart failure in hospice care in Burbank, California.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of beloved performer, lyricist and women's healthcare advocate Phyllis Newman, who passed away on September 15, 2019 at age 86. To commemorate her life and work, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim the lights of the American Airlines, Broadhurst, Helen Hayes, Lunt-Fontanne, Lyric, New Amsterdam, Samuel J. Friedman, St. James, and Vivian Beaumont Theatres in New York for one minute on Friday, September 27 at exactly 7:45pm.

La Mirada Theatre For The Performing Arts & Mccoy Rigby Entertainment present the West Coast Premiere of GRUMPY OLD MEN: THE MUSICAL, book by Dan Remmes, music by Neil Berg, lyrics by Nick Meglin, (Adapted from the Warner Bros. motion picture written by Mark Steven Johnson), additional orchestrations by Phil Reno, choreography by Michele Lynch, musical direction by Benet Braun and direction by Matt Lenz.

Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs is the first play in his semi-autobiographical trilogy, which also includes Biloxi Blues and Broadway Bound. The play tells the story of a family living in the Brighton Beach area of Brooklyn, New York during the depression. Since its Broadway premier at the Alvin Theatre in 1983, it has been hailed as one of Simon's best plays because of the authenticity of the family relationships it portrays. While the 1986 film version was found lacking by critics, and an attempted Broadway revival in 2009 was unsuccessful, Brighton Beach Memoirs has found its way to the community theatre stage bringing Simon's well-written characters and trademark humor to modern audiences. You can catch Brighton Beach Memoirs at Oyster Mill Playhouse from July 12-28. Garry Marshall Theatre presents Deidrie Henry in the Broadway play Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill by Lanie Robertson for 15 performances May 15 to June 2, 2019 (press opening is Friday, May 17). The director is Gregg T. Daniel and playing Jimmy Powers is musical director Abdul Hamid Royal. Daniel most recently directed The Mountaintop for Garry Marshall Theatre.

Garry Marshall Theatre presents the Broadway play Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill by Lanie Robertson for 15 performances May 15 to June 2, 2019 (press opening is Friday, May 17).  The time is 1959, a seedy bar in Philadelphia. The audience is about to witness one of Billie Holiday's last performances, given four months before her death. More than a dozen musical numbers - including "What a Moonlight Can Do," "Crazy He Calls Me," "Easy Living," "Strange Fruit," "Taint Nobody's Biz-ness If I Do," and "God Bless the Child" -- are interlaced with salty, often humorous, reminiscences to project a riveting portrait of the lady and her music.

Artistic Director Marya Sea Kaminski and Managing Director Lou Castelli announced the 2019/2020 lineup at Pittsburgh Public Theater. The six-play subscription series features three exciting new voices, two giants of American culture, and one outrageous musical comedy.

Lewis University's Philip Lynch Theatre (PLT) continues 'chasing the dream' with the 3rd installment to Neil Simon's autobiographical trilogy, Broadway Bound. Simon has won three Tony Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, and has been nominated for four Academy Awards for his various plays and screenwritings. He has written over 30 plays and during the 1967 Broadway Season had four of his plays in production at the same time (Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple, Sweet Charity, and The Star-Spangled Girl). In 1987, Broadway Bound received four nominations for the Best Play and Drama Desk Award, was a nominee for the Tony Award Best Play, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama.
