Chicago Opera Theater (COT), Chicago's foremost producer of new and reimagined opera, continues its 50th Anniversary season with the Midwest Premiere of Huang Ruo's environmentalist opera Book of Mountains and Seas presented in partnership with the Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival and produced by Beth Morrison Projects.

Celebration Arts announces its 38th Season, Black Girl Magic, featuring iconic and original plays written and directed by Black women. The season includes 'ZORA & LANGSTON,' 'TOPDOG / UNDERDOG,' and 'MUD, RIVER, STONE.' Season passes available now.

The 36th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Program will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Casino Live Hotel Ballroom in Hanover, Md. Dignitaries attending will include Maryland Governor Wes Moore, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman John Sarbanes, County Executive Steuart Pittman, and Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley. The keynote speaker will be Congressman Jonathan Jackson, the youngest son of Rev. Jesse Jackson and godson to Dr. King. Governor Moore will also provide comments at the event.

Barbra Streisand will be honored with the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment in 2024. The SAG Life Achievement Award will join Streisand's numerous accolades, including being an EGOT winner.
