The box office for TINA a?" THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL will open Saturday, August 31 at 10am EST at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street).

The Muny has announced that Broadway talents and Muny audience favorites Mikaela Bennett and Jason Gotay will headline the eighth installment of its off-season concert series, Muny Magic at The Sheldon, November 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m.

On June 20th, the Shakespeare Academy @ Stratford kicked off its sixth season by welcoming fourteen young actors to Stratford, CT. Producer Kevin McCollum announced today that the new musical, Mrs. Doubtfire, will premiere at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre this fall on route to Broadway.  The musical features a book Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell and music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick, the Tony Award nominated team behind Something Rotten!  Four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks (Hello, Dolly!) will direct and Lorin Latarro (Waitress) will choreograph.  Ethan Popp (Tina) will serve as Music Supervisor.

The Broadway Education Alliance Inc. presented The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance (formerly the Gershwin Awards) on Sunday, May 19 at Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) in Manhattan, 328 West 48th Street, in Manhattan.

I had the pleasure of seeing A Bronx Tale with my friend Cassy, who had NEVER seen a musical before! (I know, right?!) I invited Cassy because the 1993 movie, off which the musical is based, is her favorite. Seriously, her cat is named Calogero, after the lead character in both the movie and the play. I was excited to see this show, and especially excited to see it through the eyes of a neophyte theater goer. I was not disappointed!
