The 2019 Stage Raw Theater Awards celebrate excellence on the Los Angeles stages in venues of 99-seats or under. This fifth annual celebration included productions that opened between June 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019. Stage Raw is a community funded professional journalism website that was created in response to the decline of arts coverage in local mainstream and alternative media.The Awards ceremony was held Monday night, September 9, at Los Angeles Theatre Center, 514 S. Spring Street in downtown Los Angeles, and was co-hosted by IAMA Theatre Company and Ammunition Theatre Company (a?oeAmmoa??).

Prima Theatre has received special permission (Wildhorn Productions, Music Theatre International) to present a new adaption of the Broadway and international phenomenon.

Earlier this year, on April 22, The Phantom of the Opera, reached a milestone that no other Broadway show has even come near. Phantom, the longest-running show in Broadway history, became the first Broadway show EVER to reach #13,000 performances. This is just one of many incredible achievements made by the show since it opened on Broadway over three decades ago.

Digital arts journal Stage Raw announces the nominees for its fifth annual Stage Raw Theater Awards, to be held Monday night September 9, 2019, at Los Angeles Theatre Center, 514 S. Spring Street. The Handmaid's Dianetics is a show created by writer and performer Joyce Miller. It has played in episodes at The Brick Festival of Lies (Episode One: The Handmade Dianetix), The Planet Connections Theater Festivity (Episode Two: Scientolojesus), and Dixon Place (Episode Three: Ofhubbard). Script, songs, and lyrics are composed by Joyce Miller, using guitar accompaniment developed by Mike Handelman.

Based on the story by Robert Louis Stevenson, the musical follows the kind and passionate Dr. Henry Jekyll who, testing his experimental treatments on himself, accidentally unleashes his inner demons to transform into the degenerate Mr. Hyde. The musical had a record-breaking Broadway run and seen more than 100 global productions with 32 international recordings in 28 different languages.
