Based on the play The Rainmaker by N. Richard Nash

Adapted by Nash from his classic play "The Rainmaker," "110 in the Shade" tells the story of Lizzie Curry, a love-starved woman living on a rain-starved Texas ranch during the Depression. Lizzie likes to speak her mind, and she's plenty headstrong, but also lonely. Her father and brothers would like to see her hitched and happy, maybe to Sheriff File, who's become a brooding loner since his wife left him. Bursting with charisma, con-man Starbuck swaggers into town, promising rain to the drought-parched town, and a chance of romance for Lizzie.



"110 in the Shade" opened on Broadway 50 years ago on October 24, 1963, at the Broadhurst Theatre. Starring Inga Swenson as Lizzie and Will Geer as H.C. Curry and featuring the choreography of Agnes De Mille, the original production was nominated for four Tony Awards. The Roundabout Theater Company's 2007 revival starred Audra McDonald as Lizzie, Steve Kazee as Starbuck and John Cullum as H.C. Curry; it received five Tony nominations and won two Drama Desk awards for outstanding revival of a musical and for best actress in a musical.



BWW Interview: Director Richard Israel Talks VIOLET an Extraordinary Musical at Actors Co-op

Director Richard Israel is returning to Actors Co-op to helm the musical Violet. At the Co-op he has previously directed Our Town, The Baker's Wife and 110 in the Shade (LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award Winner for Outstanding Musical in an Intimate Venue), among others. Most recently, Richard was the Theatrical Coordinator for the multiple Emmy-award winning HBO series Big Little Lies, directing all of the Avenue Q sequences in the series. Regional theatre credits include West Side Story, Rent and Floyd Collins (LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards for Direction and Outstanding Musical in a Large Venue) for McCoy-Rigby Ent.; Kiss Me Kate and Once Upon A Mattress for Cabrillo Music Theatre; the multiple Ovation award-nominated Having It All for the Laguna Playhouse; and Meet Me In St. Louis for MTW. Intimate theatre productions include Bronies The Musical, The Burnt Part Boys, The Full Monty, Avenue Q, Gypsy, Assassins, Big The Musical and the world premiere of Anita Bryant Died For Your Sins. As a resident director for the Musical Theatre Guild, he has directed Women On The Verge, Do I Hear A Waltz, Road Show, High Fidelity and many others. Elias and Jenny, a young Brooklyn couple, escape on a much-needed getaway to a cozy bed-and-breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. However, under the watchful eye of the cheery, if slightly off, innkeeper, a ghost seems to haunt their crumbling relationship. The awards show is the culmination of a year-long professional development program and will showcase the next generation of Georgia's musical theatre talent. BoHo Announces Stephen Schellhardt as New Artistic Director

Schellhardt has been the Artistic Associate with the company since 2015.
