The 22 Festál cultural celebrations highlight The Common forms of tradition and expression among ethnic communities in the Pacific Northwest, while underscoring their unique creative contributions, customs, foods and ideals. Our 2010 "did you know" will explore some of these commonalities and differences.

Did you know? The Hawaiian state flag colors are red, white and blue, however, red and gold are more truly traditional Hawaiian colors and signify Hawaiian royalty. Traditional foods include Laulau, Kalua pig and poi; and popular foods currently include rice and spam. The aloha spirit provides the greatest source of cultural pride. Traditionally, whaling and now agriculture (sugarcane, pineapples, macadamia nuts, coffee), hula/music, apparel, tourism and military activity provide livelihood for Hawaiians.
