A solo exhibition by Brian Gillis (Eugene OR), NO! transforms the gallery into an open question in an effort to understand what role disobedience has played throughout human development, through social, personal, criminal, or agricultural applications. Gillis examines how we define disobedience through a juxtaposition of seemingly separate installations, as an invitation to consider the definition's peripheral. A series of quietly connected elements will combine video, a model tank, a home-made safe dialer, hydroponic agriculture, a quadraped bicycle, and a fully-functional reprographics center with reference library to ask us where we draw the line.

Please join us for an artist's talk when Gillis speaks about his work at the Henry Art Gallery Auditorium on Friday, September 10th at 7PM. Brian Gillis is an Assistant Professor of Art at the University of Oregon, Eugene. This is his first exhibition in the Seattle area.
