Scottish-born composer Thea Musgrave's 1977 English-language opera receives its mainstage premiere at San Francisco Opera, having first been presented by Company affiliate Spring Opera Theater in 1979 at the Curran Theatre with the composer conducting. This co-production with English National Opera is directed and designed by Stewart Laing and conducted by Italian maestro Clelia Cafiero in her house debut. Soprano Heidi Stober stars in the title role, with Thomas Mole, Thomas Kinch, and Christopher Sokolowski also in the cast.
