Pear Theatre embraces the season of sweethearts with the world premiere of 'Spending the End of the World on OkCupid' by Bay Area playwright Jeffrey Lo, directed by Michael Champlin. With an extinction event occurring in twelve hours, some people spend time with their friends, most spend time with their family ... others spend the end of the world on OkCupid. 'Spending the End of the World on OkCupid' previews on January 24, with press and Opening Night on Friday, January 25 (followed by a champagne gala). The show runs Thursdays through Sundays through February 17. All performances are held at the Pear Theatre, 1110 La Avenida St., Mountain View. Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Broadway giants Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp have postponed their upcoming engagement of their intimate, unplugged hit show, Acoustically Speaking - A 20-Year Friendship, at Feinstein's at the Nikko. Originally scheduled for Friday, January 18 and Saturday, January 19, 2019, the engagement will now take placeFriday, April 19 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 20 at 8 p.m. Ticket holders for the January engagement will automatically have their tickets transferred to the new performances dates, and will receive updated confirmation information in the coming days. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend.

Smuin continues its 25th anniversary season with Dance Series 01, a dazzling program that pushes the boundaries of contemporary ballet. Acclaimed dancemaker Trey McIntyre returns to Smuin with Blue Until June, a thrilling tribute to Etta James. Continuing Smuin's long-time dedication to fostering new talent within the company is a trio of groundbreaking works first developed in Smuin's Choreography Showcase: Merely Players by Smuin dancer Nicole Haskins, Reflection by Smuin dancer Ben Needham-Wood, and Sinfonietta by former Smuin dancer Rex Wheeler. Dance Series 01 will also include Michael Smuin's timeless Schubert Scherzo, an effervescent dance set to Schubert's sprightly C-Major Symphony and The Eternal Idol, Michael Smuin's romantic pas de deux inspired by Auguste Rodin's iconic sculptures. Dance Series 01 will be presented February 1-2 at the Sunset Center in Carmel and February 21-24 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Originally premiering in 1993, this adaptation, written by Theatre of Yugen Founder Yuriko Doi, utilizes the traditional Japanese theatre forms of Noh, Kyogen, Kabuki, and the avant-garde dance form Butoh to retell the Dickens classic.

Wright, who has served as Interim Dean since earlier this summer, officially assumed the role December 1. An expert on the history of Russia - including the Russian Revolution, the Cold War, and the history of Europe during the World Wars - guest speaker Professor D'Agostino will bring a unique perspective on the War for Bay Area audience members following the December 8 performance of Fisher's show.
