Cygnet Theatre's ongoing love affair with the works of Stephen Sondheim (A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Assassins) continues as their new season launches with Company, the Tony Award-winning musical exploration of marriage and commitment. Company is a musical comedy based on a book by George Furth with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The original production premiered in 1970 and was nominated for a record-setting fourteen Tony Awards and won six. Company runs July 5th through August 18. Check out a first look at the cast below!

But singer should be at the top of the list. The Old Globe presents THINKING SHAKESPEARE LIVE!, a 90-minute presentation exploring the language of Shakespeare, today, June 15 at 11 a.m. Led by Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and assisted by three professional classical actors, this special program based on Edelstein's book, THINKING SHAKESPEARE: A HOW-TO GUIDE FOR STUDENT ACTORS, DIRECTORS, AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE WITH THE BARD, will reveal a performer's approach to Shakespearean language so audiences may easily understand the poetry of the Bard. An ideal introduction to Shakespeare for families and young audiences, THINKING SHAKESPEARE LIVE! will take place on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

SECRETS OF A GAY MORMON FELON to Play San Diego Fringe Festival, 7/5-7

Despite this being Kimball's debut performance as both an actor and a playwright, Secrets of a Gay Mormon Felon has already playedsold out performances at theatre festivals in Kansas City, Honolulu and has received wide acclaim from critics. The show is next scheduled to play at the San Diego Fringe Festival, CA this July 5-7. The play looks to continue on along the festival circuit and play at various cities across the country. Alice Faye Tribute Concert to Play Palm Desert's Arthur Newman Theater, 6/30

Singer Nicole Dillenberg stars in a one-woman cabaret style concert that pays tribute to Hollywood star Alice Faye at a 2 PM matinee performance on Sunday, June 30th at Arthur Newman Theatre in The Joslyn Center in Palm Desert. Ms. Faye lived in Rancho Mirage and passed away May 9, 1998 at the age of 83. In 'Yes To You', Nicole Dillenberg will tell stories about Alice Faye's long and illustrious career and personal life including her marriage to Phil Harris and Tony Martin.

The Coronado Playhouse, the community's theatre, has launched an effort to help one of San Diego County's most established non-profit organizations, Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. Founded in 1980, the local Ronald McDonald House provides a 'home away from home' to families with children being treated at area hospitals for serious, often life-threatening conditions. Nearly 20,000 guests a year receive housing, meals and other crucial care and services while dealing with health crises.
