Copperstar Repertory Co. was all but pronounced dead this fall after being completely upside down and financially destitute. After 21 wonderful shows and six successful summers of Musical Theatre Camps, Copperstar made the heart-breaking decision to shut their doors. In an attempt to cover debt, Copperstar has been forced to liquidate their stock of sets and costumes. However, there may be light at the end of the tunnel for Copperstar and those who have been hoping to see a comeback. Copperstar recently met with Higley Center of the Performing Arts and Higley Community Education and the two organizations will be partnering for Summer Musical Theatre Camps and a community-wide production of LES MISERABLES. Amy Bennett Foundation & Educational Theatre Association to Offer Annual Musical Theatre Scholarships

The Amy Bennett Foundation announces that it will award the first of its annual scholarships next week at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. The scholarship will be offered yearly to graduating high school seniors who plan to study Musical Theatre/Dance. Two seniors will receive the scholarship at the Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. The scholarship will also be awarded this year at the Arizona State Thespian Festival taking place in November.

The play's the thing in a festival of short works written and directed my members of the co-op. At ten minutes a pop, each of the eight productions in this year's showcase catches the audience's conscience, at one level or another. As mirrors of human foibles and affects, their themes resonate with the familiarity of an old mistake, eliciting a knowing smile or a reluctant frown.
