By: Kelsey Denette Sep. 27, 2011
On Sunday October 9 The Folk Sessions returns to Prescott Center for the Arts (formerly PFAA) for the kick-off of PCA Presents, "an enjoyable way to see the best local performers, as well as those from around the country at affordable prices," presenting the award-winning, acoustic soul duo, Gypsy Soul about which People magazine wrote "Their music stirs the soul and moves the spirit." Opening the show will be the Folk Sessions radio host, singer-songwriter Tom Agostino.
Gypsy Soul has been hailed as "one of the most brilliantly instrumented and vocally adept bands alive and kicking," by the OC WEEKLY. This International duo's music, though not genre specific, masterfully blends folk rock and soul with a generous infusion of blues and jazz creating a sound all their own. Cilette Swann's (Canadian/US) exquisitely ethereal and passionate vocals are partnered with Roman Morykit's (UK) masterful fretless bass and innovative guitar counterpoint. These award-winning, acoustic soul artists have become the vanguard of independent musicians. Professional performers and writers for 20+ years, Cilette and Roman create beautifully introspective music that leaves their audiences breathless. Their intelligent lyrics and elegant arrangements are performed with virtuosic ability, yet are delivered with an earthy, soulful power and grace.Videos
