"You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." - Plato
Philosophy is both familiar and mystifying. I think therefore I am, Tyranny of the Majority, Know Thyself. Whos words do we live by? Why? How? In this immersive, interactive philosophy salon the rules we live by- and their consequences- are always in play. Philosophy often gets a bad rap for being just a wee bit pretentious so we're bringing a little Philly to Philosophy and using humor and games to explore how not just old school Philosophy but diverse, contemporary philosophers can help us understand how we make decisions in our lives, from local politics to global injustices.
The salon invites participants to play social and tabletop games that bring up questions of ethics, agency, and community. If you've ever wondered what Aristotle's teachings or the trolley problem would be like as games, this is the place to find out! Each game questions how well we know ourselves and how we feel about what we know as KNOW THYSELF transforms abstract philosophy into a series of delightful and challenging analog games and experiences.
