There’s an idyllic little fishing village, a place where the air is thick with salt and impending storms. It’s a cosy town with a long jetty, lighthouse and a ramshackle little home built just for two young lovers.
In this tiny shack there is a bathroom with an old claw-footed tub sitting solidly in the middle. A newlywed woman sits waiting for her sailor husband to return. Drawing herself a long, warm bath… she waits.
Slowly the world closes in around her as she weaves stories of why he hasn’t returned to her. Maybe he’s in the midst of a battle with a giant sea creature, or perhaps an alluring mermaid has seduced him. She plays out a series of what-ifs: toys become boats, monsters rise from the bath and a rubber duck sings songs, until finally she has had enough…
