Arena Stage is currently preparing to present the world-premiere musical Snow Child. Infused with a score that combines Alaskan string band-traditions with contemporary musical theater, Snow Child follows a couple rebuilding their lives in the Alaskan wilderness when they meet a magical and mysterious snow child who transforms them. Last month, composer Georgia Stitt along with violinist Victoria Paterson and Kate Baldwin reunited at SubCulture to perform 'Alphabet City Cycle.' Originally recorded in 2009, the song cycle with lyrics by Marcy Heisler consists of five songs about women alone in New York City.

The Dramatists Guild's Anti-Piracy Committee just hosted their first-ever Anti-Piracy awareness event on Monday, April 21. During the event, established and up-and-coming musical theatre writers paired up to reach out to known sheet music pirates and ask them to take down the links to their sheet music. The day is intended to raise awareness about the problem of sheet music piracy and take steps against the digital distribution of stolen sheet music. Susan Egan has a brand music video coming out next week for her original song, 'Nina Doesn't Care,' and BroadwayWorld has an exclusive behind-the-scenes video of how Susan and crew put it all together -- complete with animated characters! The song is from her new album, 'The Secret of Happiness,' which is being released November 15th on LML Music. BroadwayWorld is very pleased to bring you this exclusive 'making-of' video, which features Susan Egan, Georgia Stitt (the album's producer and music director), Brian Haner who co-wrote 'Nina Doesn't Care', Susan Haner who produced the video, and Ken Duncan who led the animation for the video. Oh - and here's some inside info - though Susan's actual daughter Nina is now too old to play the baby in the video, she does make a cameo as herself (at age 4) in the final cut!
