Broadway Rewind: FINIAN'S RAINBOW Makes Broadway Look to the Sky in 2009!

Today we rewind to 2009, when Finian's Rainbow had its fourth Broadway revival at the St. James Theatre. Starring Cheyenne Jackson, Kate Baldwin, Christopher Fitzgerald, Jim Norton and Chuck Cooper, the musical transferred to Broadway following an Encores! production earlier that year. In Finian's Rainbow, An elderly Irishman, Finian, moves to the southern United States with his daughter Sharon, to bury a stolen pot of gold near Fort Knox, in the mistaken belief that it will grow. Og, a leprechaun, follows them, desperate to recover his treasure before the loss of it turns him permanently human.

Broadway Rewind: XANADU Cast Hits the Recording Studio in 2007!

This episode of Broadway Rewind takes Richard Ridge to the opening night of the off- Broadway musical Frankenstein, which starred Hunter Foster, Steve Blanchard and Christiane Noll. We also drop by the CD recording of the hit musical Xanadu, where Cheyenne Jackson told Ridge, 'Xanadu lifts you up. It's 90 minutes but you are onstage the entire time. I'm loving it.'

Broadway Rewind: Cheyenne Jackson & Kate Baldwin Look to the Sky in FINIAN'S RAINBOW!

'We close things out with a look at the 48th production of City Center's famed Encore's, the glorious musical Finian's Rainbow, which starred Kate Baldwin, Cheyenne Jackson, Jim Norton and Terri White. It was directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle. Kate told me, 'I get to sing the most beautiful songs. I think Burton Lane was a master of melody.' Cheyenne said he knew the songs but didn't really know the story, 'It's very, very current. I was actually surprised. The main crux of the plot is a bigoted white man in power from the south who is being replaced by an open-minded black man. Hmmm. So, it's very current.''

Broadway Rewind: Get ALL SHOOK UP in Rehearsals with Cheyenne Jackson & More in 2005!

BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge and Broadway Rewind continues with a look at two offerings of the 2004- 2005 theatre season. A sneak peek at the new musical All Shook Up, which featured a breakout performance by Cheyenne Jackson, and we start things off at the opening night of Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's musical Pacific Overtures. This bold and underrated 1976 musical spans over 150 years. It starred two original members from the 1976 Broadway production, Sab Shimono and Alvin Ing. Tony award winner BD Wong who joined them, told me how exciting it was to be a part of this glorious musical. 'We have gone on this journey as a company. Just an incredible amount of very stimulating and creative work with an incredible director. I mean world class, no pun intended. Fantastic, loving, caring, passionate, creative person. And to have that experience is so rare, and to be in a Sondheim, Weidman musical, when Sondheim and Weidman are there in the room, taking notes and telling you what they think and why they wrote something, is unbelievable.'

Showtune Shuffle: Broadway's Leading Men Sing 'Something's Coming'

Some of the most beloved songs of the musical theatre canon come from Bernstein's score, which includes 'Tonight,' 'America,' 'Maria,' and of course, Tony's big Act I moment, 'Something's Coming.' Today, we celebrate the show's return with that very tune, featuring original Tonys Larry Kert (original Broadway cast) and Richard Beymer (1961 film), Broadway leading men Matt Cavenaugh (2009 revival), Jeremy Jordan (2009 revival), Cheyenne Jackson, Gavin Creel, Colton Ryan, Santino Fontana, and Darren Criss, and even Barbra Streisand, Shirley Bassey and Judy Garland.
