The Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) announced the winners of the 10th Annual Tribeca All Access (TAA) Creative Promise Awards presented by the Time Warner Foundation at a ceremony earlier tonight. The narrativeThe Lobbyists and the documentary (T)ERROR were selected from 11 projects based on the strength of their vision and filmmaking promise. Each project received $10,000 to help bring their films to completion. The Institute also announced this year's TAA alumni grants and fellowships during the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, 20th Century Fox recently formed a joint venture with top Broadway producer and Tony Award winner Kevin McCollum (Motown, Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights), prolific film producer John Davis (Predator, The Firm, Grumpy Old Men, I Robot, Chronicle) and leading industry executive Tom McGrath, to develop live stage productions based upon the studio's vast library of films. Tony winner Jessie Mueller who is currently lighting up the stage as Carole King in BEAUTIFUL has found her next role says the New York Times. The paper reports that the star will play the lead role in the upcoming musical of WAITRESS, based on the 2007 film of the same name. The show is expected to premiere at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts during its 2015-16 season, followed by Broadway. (more...)

Opening theA.R.T.'s 2015-16 Season, this new musical will be directed by Diane Paulus and feature book by Jessie Nelson and music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles.
