For its first online installment of the 2020 Spring Puppet Forum Series the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will host 'Puppets and Little Shop of Horrors' with Martin P. Robinson and UConn Puppet Arts graduate students Robert Ian Cutler and K. William Smith on April 23 at 7 p.m. EST.

Executive and Artistic Director, Keith Gerth and Associate Artistic Director, Stephen Smith of the Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview announce their next production, the gripping thriller Murder on the Nile by Agatha Christie. This tale of mystery and suspense is directed by Oil Lamp's Executive and Artistic Director Keith Gerth and will be performed from September 26th through November 10th 2019 at 1723 Glenview Road in Glenview. 

Ashland New Plays Festival will present a special two-night full production of The Gun Show by award-winning playwright E.M. Lewis at 7:30 pm on June 14 and 15 at the Bellview Grange in Ashland, featuring Andrew William Smith and directed by Lisa Velten Smith. Tickets are $25, available online or at the door, subject to availability. A conversation with the audience about personal experiences with guns will follow the performance.

QSTC's Playwrights of Color Summit (POCS) is a week-long residency that allows previously unproduced playwrights an opportunity to work exclusively on their plays with all resources, stipends, travel and room & board provided by QSTC.  The week's work will culminate in staged readings of four finalists' plays. Founder Tyrone Mitchell Henderson says, "This year we will accentuate the voices of four female solo artists whose work sheds light on self-worth, communication, love, identity and growing as an artist.  It is so fulfilling to bring these new works to my home town."

The Green Room 42 brings New Generation Theater Company's 'Let Me Be Your Star' to New York City for a one night only engagement. 'Let Me Be Your Star' is a musical tribute to one of NBC's most treasured TV series SMASH. The performance will play Saturday, April 13th at 9:30pm at The Green Room 42. The night will feature numbers such as History Is Made at Night, They Just Keep Moving the Line, Never Give All the Heart, Broadway Here I Come, Let Me Be Your Star and more!

Leapin' lizards! Annie, one of America's favorite spunky little redheads is coming to King Ave Players. Set during the depression, orphan Annie is determined to find her parents. In this fun-filled musical, Annie foils evil schemes, befriends the President and finds and new family for herself and her lovable mutt, Sandy. Annie boasts one of Broadway's most memorable scores with songs including "Hard Knock Life," "Easy Street" and "Tomorrow." Bet your bottom dollar you won't want to miss this family-friendly musical. Performances Thur Nov 8th - Sat Nov 10th @ 7:30 and Sun Nov 11th at 3:00 pm. Free childcare is available during the Friday evening and Sunday matinee performances. The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF), presented by Mountain Valley Spring Water, announced today the winners for this year's festival.  Awards were given to films in the U.S. Documentary, International, Sports, Southern and Short Feature categories as well as an Audience Award for overall documentary at the festival.

There are plenty of ways of describing Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Sophisticated, approachable, elegant, witty. But very few would describe it as wacky... unless those lucky few had seen Kate Hamill's production, as directed by Desdemona Chiang at the Pittsburgh Public Theater. I can't remember the last time I had quite as much fun at a 'classical' period piece, even while realizing that this was certain to be one of the most divisive shows in PPT history. Throughout the evening I heard audiences laughing, clapping, even cheering the production's gleeful ingenuity, while at intermission I heard several people complain that 'it's a wonderful production of a stupid play' and that they 'thought it would be more Masterpiece Theatre.'

Betty Cuningham Gallery is pleased to open an exhibition of new work by Stanley Lewis. This will be the artist's third show with the Gallery, located at 15 Rivington Street. The artist will be present for an opening reception on Friday, October 19 from 6-8 PM.

Pittsburgh Public Theater begins its 44th season with a new management team - Artistic Director Marya Sea Kaminski and Managing Director Lou Castelli - and the Pittsburgh premiere of Kate Hamill's innovative comedy, Pride and Prejudice. Directed by Desdemona Chiang, Pride and Prejudice runs September 27 - October 28, 2018 at the O'Reilly Theater, Pittsburgh Public Theater's home in the heart of Downtown's Cultural District.

Memory and Collective are the key words here. The performance is a collaboration, explored and presented from Memories of survival; old, new, brand new, collectively or individually. It is an evening of intertwining, sharing, searching, feeling, expressing and truth. It signifies also, to me, what is needed in our government structure today... a true conglomeration of all aspects to arrive at the best possible conclusion that will be of most benefit to ALL.
