One of Houston's newest theatre companies, The Garden Theatre, has announced its plans to bring the stage version of a cult classic to life in Cruel Intentions: The '90s Musical at MATCH. Featuring the familiar story accompanied by '90s hits, the production will run November 18-27, 2022 at Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (3400 Main St.) in the heart of midtown. This will be the first production of Cruel Intentions: The '90s Musical ever produced in Houston.

What did our critic think? CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG is perfect summer fare for kids, and also for those of us who enjoy a rather crazy car story from the creator of James Bond. It’s a treat to see it here at the MATCH in Midtown, especially with such a strong cast in a handsome production.

Main Street Theater (MST) is bringing to the stage the high-flying, adventure-filled musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, based on the much-loved, iconic film! “Never say 'no' to adventures,” says Grandpa Potts.  “Always say 'yes.'” MST is saying YES to adventures this summer with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! The musical is based on the MGM Motion Picture with music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman & Robert B. Sherman; adapted for the Stage by Jeremy Sams; licensed script adapted by Ray Roderick.

Set in a re-imagined 11th Century Scotland right after an unsuccessful uprising against King Duncan, the titular character, Macbeth, finds herself in the company of three spirits who prophesy that she shall be King hereafter. Will she allow fate to take its course in its own due time, or will she act on the visions and force it into reality?

When one thinks of a production, usually there is a script, with a director, creative team and the actors have a bevy of time in order to put on the best performances of their life. However, the newly formed Garden Theatre has chosen to do the exact opposite in a smart, clever, and brilliant production of Nassim Soleimanpour's WHITE RABBIT RED RABBIT.

PAUL HOPE is keeping the Great American Songbook Alive with POPPA DON'T PREACH TO ME: FRANK LOESSER FROM HOLLYWOOD TO BROADWAY at OVATIONS NIGHT CLUB, located at 2536 Times Blvd Houston, TX 77005, on MONDAYS from September 16 through 30, 2019. Performances will be MONDAYS at 7:30PM (1930).

Boiling Point Players has selected its cast for the 2019 season. Audiences can expect to see a few familiar faces from past BPP productions as well as some fresh talent. The 2019 season begins January 31, 2019 with "A New World Cabaret" and closes with double feature one-acts in April.

It's not a reinvention, but a celebration of the classical musical that delivers familiar songs and themes. It is well worth coming to this CABARET where indeed… life is beautiful.
