Spring has sprung at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre where audiences are being promised a brilliant programme of live music, drama and comedy throughout March. 

AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, a new musical based on the Oscar-winning film and original screenplay by Douglas Day Stewart, is set to perform at the Van Wezel on Wednesday, Apr. 6 at 7:30 p.m., and Thursday, Apr. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.

The movie An Officer and a Gentleman came out in 1982 to both critical and popular acclaim, but turning this story into a jukebox musical many years later seems like a strange choice.  The cast in this touring production are across the board excellent, but some of the musical choices seem forced, and the plot seems torn between conveying the serious themes of the movie and wanting to lean into the more cheesy aspects of the 80s.  The result is an odd hodgepodge that suffers from an identity crisis, but is still entertaining thanks to the efforts and talents of the cast.

An Officer and a Gentleman, a musical based on the 1982 Oscar-winning film of the same name, is currently playing at the Fisher Theatre through February 13th. BroadwayWorld Detroit had the pleasure of speaking with Wes Williams, who plays Zack Mayo.

A new musical based on the Oscar-winning film and original screenplay, An Officer and a Gentleman, is making its way around the country with two upcoming performances at Midland Center for the Arts, January 25-26 as part of the Huntington Bank Broadway & Beyond Series.

AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, a new musical based on the Oscar-winning film and original screenplay by Douglas Day Stewart, will play the Providence Performing Arts Center Friday, February 18 through Sunday, February 20, 2022. The musical production is set at the U.S. Naval Station in Newport, RI.

Broadway Sacramento continues its phenomenal comeback season in the newly renovated SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center with An Officer and a Gentleman. Based on the Academy Award-winning 1982 film starring Richard Gere, the musical boasts an impressive 1980’s arrangement including the hit “Up Where We Belong.” Sacramento is the third stop of the first North American tour, which visits over 50 cities through 2022.

The producers of the new musical AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN, announced today that the world premiere will take place in Las Vegas at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts on October 26-31, 2021 followed by a multi-season tour that will visit more than 50 cities in the 2021-2022 season.

Little LTF is a new strand to the hugely successful Liverpool Theatre Festival, which was staged for the very first time last September in response to an ongoing need for live entertainment during Covid-19.

Performances began January 17, 2019 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 24, 2019 at The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island). Opening Night was Saturday evening, January 19, 2019.
