MATILDA Continues Walnut Street Theatre's 210th Season

Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 210th season with Roald Dahl's MATILDA THE MUSICAL. Directed by Linda Goodrich, with choreography by Michelle Gaudette, MATILDA THE MUSICAL begins previews on November 6th, opens on November 14th, and runs through January 6th on the Walnut's Mainstage.

A HUMAN BEING DIED THAT NIGHT Makes Philadelphia Premiere

Psychologist Pumla confronts imprisoned ex-officer Eugene in this searing account of the atrocities committed by the South African police force under apartheid. On October 26, EgoPo Classic Theater presents Nicholas Wright's adaptation of Pumla Gobodo-Madikidela's award-winning book about her time serving on the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Gretna Theatre Tackles Bullying In Local Schools

Gretna Theatre brings their production of Thomas Quinn's The Boy Who Cried Bully into Central PA schools as a part of Gretna's growing educational outreach program. Over the next few weeks, this unique educational program will entertain and educate students throughout several local school districts across South-Central Pennsylvania.

11th Hour Announces New Twist In Spotlight Series, First On

11th Hour Theatre Company announces a new twist to its Spotlight Series. This annual series of one-night only events, designed to put local favorite musical theatre performers front and center, will now feature some up-and-coming Philly artists that the company thinks audiences should get know. The evenings are hosted by 11th Hour favorites. All of the performances will coincide with 11th Hour's Next Step Concert Series. These special events will be performed this season at The Proscenium Theatre at The Drake, 302 South Hicks Street. The first one is Monday, October 8 at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $24 (including service fee), and $19 for industry tickets (including service fee). Photo Flash: Walnut Street Theatre's IN BETWEEN Opens This Thursday

Walnut Street Theatre's 2018-19 Independence Studio on 3 season opens with a personal look into the Palestinian-Israeli identity with IN BETWEEN. Written and performed by Ibrahim Miari and directed by Elena Araoz, the production begins with previews on September 25th, opens September 27th and continues through October 28th.

FringeNYC Presents STRANGER THAN A RHINO A New Drama Based On Ionesco's RHINOCEROS

The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC) a production of The Present Company presents Stranger Than A Rhino, a contemporary reimagining of Ionesco's Rhinoceros with themes of race, culture and xenophobia, written by Robert Siegel.  William Roudebush directs a cast of eight, including Vick Krishna, Jeremy Lister, Barbara Matovu, Amanda McCallum, Leslie Lynn Meeker, Charles Rubey, David Shakopi and Scott Zimmerman. 

Heather Headley To Perform With The Philly POPS on October 12

International singing sensation, R&B hitmaker and Tony and Grammy winner Heather Headley will join The Philly POPS BIG Band at the Kimmel Center on Oct. 12 in the one-night-only show: 'The Philly POPS Presents: Heather Headley's Broadway My Way.' Headley has personally selected favorites from her memorable performance career. She will tell her life story through song, adding a personalized appeal to her trademark powerhouse delivery of gospel, Broadway and R&B hits.

Brigid Harrington (Broadway: Mary Poppins, Jane Banks) will perform in concert with legendary singer/songwriter and producer Todd Rundgren as part of Todd Rundgren's Play Like a Champion Concert: Students Play The 80's at the University of Notre Dame today, Sept. 7th.

Disney's ALADDIN JR. Opens Kid's Series At Walnut Street Theatre

Kids of all ages will be enchanted by the WST for Kids' production of Disney's ALADDIN, JR.. Based on the classic 1992 Disney movie, and updated to include Alan Menken's new songs written for the 2014 Broadway production, this hour-long musical will be performed LIVE at Walnut Street Theatre September 22 - 30, 2018.

EgoPo Announces 2018-19 Season Theater of South Africa

EgoPo Classic Theater announces their 2018-19 Season: Theater of South Africa, celebrating great dramatic works of South Africa and highlighting the remarkable transformation from apartheid to democracy. The season will begin with a South African version of Eugene O'Neill's Desire Under the Elms, as created and performed by Abrahamse and Meyer Productions from Cape Town, South Africa, in partnership with Drexel University's Westphal College of Media Arts & Design and their Performing Arts Department. EgoPo's mainstage season launches with A Human Being Died That Night, a gripping account of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission by psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela; followed by Three Sisters Two by Reza de Wet, a Chekhov sequel confronting the fall of privileged class; and concluding with two plays in rotation repertory: "Master Harold"…and the Boys by Athol Fugard and Egoli by Matsemela Manaka (co-produced with Theatre in the X), shining a light on two vastly different experiences under apartheid.

Behold This Production Of BEHOLD HER At The Fringe Festival

Half Key Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Behold Her by Arden Kass on September 7-23 as part of the 2018 Fringe Festival. Directed by Tori Mittelman, the production features Michaela Shuchman and Marcia Saunders in a performance with live music by Chana Rothman that reflects on changing images and definitions of feminine beauty through the prism of Jewish culture.
