Front and Center, the critically acclaimed concert series that kicked off its ninth season last month, announced that popular indie folk band The Head and The Heart is featured in its next episode on public television (check local listings). 

GARY GULMAN: THE GREAT DEPRESH, debuts SATURDAY, OCT. 5 (10:00-11:15 p.m. ET/PT). Michael Bonfiglio (HBO's 'May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers') directs the special. Judd Apatow serves as executive producer.

The Gasparilla Music Festival (GMF) has officially confirmed its 2020 festival dates.  The 9th annual festival will take place March 7-8, 2020, along Tampa's waterfront with early bird tickets going on sale in September. GMF will feature an eclectic mix of over 45 local and touring bands covering a wide variety of genres and performing on 5 stages in downtown Tampa. GMF 2019 had over 25,000 attendees with a Saturday sellout. Past festival performers have included The Avett Brothers, Gary Clark Jr., Modest Mouse, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Father John Misty, The Flaming Lips, and Cage the Elephant.

The Magpie Salute's 3-song EP In Here will be available on September 6 on digital formats worldwide, as well as on 140g black 10” vinyl (in the US only). This EP precedes the full-length album High Water II out later this year, a follow up to the band's debut album High Water I.

It was announced today that the new musical Swept Away, featuring the music of The Avett Brothers, will have its world premiere at Berkeley Rep as part of their 2019-20 season, beginning performances in June 2020. Swept Away is produced by Berkeley Rep by special arrangement with Matthew Masten and Sean Hudock.

Tyler Bacon, President and CEO of Position Music announced today that Jon Sidel has joined the company as A&R Director. In this capacity, Sidel will help expand the roster for the independent publishing and record label, bringing on his distinctive taste and knack for style and trends. Sidel will continue his independent work running his own management company, Sidel Services, where he continues to specialize in “solutions for artists.”

GRAMMY Award-winning artist Brandi Carlile will perform six sold-out shows atNashville's historic Ryman Auditorium on January 14, 15, 16, 19, 20 and 21 with special guests Kim Richey, Lucie Silvas, Natalie Hemby, Lori McKenna and Courtney Barnettrespectively. The three additional shows were added due to overwhelming popular demand after the first three shows sold-out immediately during last Friday's on-sale.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced that The Tale of Despereaux, a new musical, will join the 2019-20 season as its second special presentation solidifying the previously announced seven-show subscription season. Coming off a successful run at The Old Globe in San Diego, where it had its world premiere, The Tale of Despereaux, written and directed by PigPen Theatre Co. and co-directed by Marc Bruni, will begin previews at Berkeley Rep on Thursday, November 21, 2019 and run through Sunday, January 5, 2020. Tickets will go on sale in early August exclusively to Berkeley Rep's 2019-20 season subscribers before being made available to the general public.

Molly Tuttle has shared the official music video for 'Light Came In (Power Went Out)' from her debut album WHEN YOU'RE READY (Compass Records). Filmed in Nashville, TN, the 'Light Came In (Power Went Out)' video was directed by Jason Lee Denton. Graced with a clear, true voice and a keen melodic sense, Tuttle has become a word-of-mouth sensation for her incredible flatpicking guitar technique and exhilarating live performances. Tuttle was named 'Instrumentalist of the Year'' at the 2018 Americana Music Awards solely on the strength of her debut EP, RISE, and is also a two-time winner of the IBMA's 'Guitar Player of the Year' award.

Veteran R&B / blues icon Garrett Duton (G. Love) of G. Love & Special Sauce returns to Nauset Beach this fall for a reprisal of his inaugural sell-out event, the Cape Cod Roots & Blues Festival. The one-day celebration of music, community, and Cape Cod beach culture will take place September 14, 2019 in Orleans, Massachusetts, with sets from Citizen Cope, Chadwick Stokes and The Pintos, Mihali(of Twiddle), Clearcola, plus a generous helping of G. Love & Special Sauce's signature Delta blues, rock, and roots.

Showtime Documentary Films today revealed the official poster and trailer for SHANGRI-LA and announced the four-part docu-series, a collaboration from Academy Award® and Emmy® winner Morgan Neville (Won't You Be My Neighbor, 20 Feet From Stardom), legendary music producer Rick Rubin, and director Jeff Malmberg (Marwencol) will premiere on Friday, July 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. While new episodes ofSHANGRI-LA will be released on SHOWTIME linear channels weekly, all four will be available immediately on July 12 for on-demand streaming, via the SHOWTIME and SHOWTIME ANYTIME apps and partnering on-demand platforms. With Rubin's iconic studio in Malibu as the backdrop, SHANGRI-LAis a four-part docu-series that focuses on creative conversation and the emotional side of music-making. Neville directed the first two episodes of the series, and the final two are directed by Malmberg.

GARY GULMAN: THE GREAT DEPRESH, the comedian and actor's first hour-long HBO comedy special, debuts later this year, it was announced today by Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president, HBO Programming. Taping Saturday, June 22 at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn, the special will be directed by Michael Bonfiglio (HBO's 'May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers'), who is also producing with Gulman. Judd Apatow executive produces.

Acclaimed singer, songwriter and performer Brandi Carlile is nominated for Artist of the Yearat the 2019 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards. The annual awards ceremony will take place on September 11 at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the three shows that complete the seven plays of its 2019-20 subscription season: the West Coast premiere of the critically acclaimed new drama White Noise by Suzan-Lori Parks; the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Becky Nurse of Salem that was developed through The Ground Floor: Berkeley Rep's Center for the Creation and Development of New Work; and Samuel Beckett's masterpiece Happy Days directed by James Bundy and starring two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest.

Brandi Carlile's Girls Just Wanna Weekend—a destination concert vacation produced byCloud 9 Adventures in partnership with The Bowery Presents—will take place at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico from January 29-Febraury 2, 2020 and once again feature an all female-fronted lineup. In addition to multiple sets from Carlile, the festival will include performances by Sheryl Crow, Lake Street Dive, Patty Griffin, Lucius,Wanda Sykes (comedy set), KT Tunstall, Jade Bird, Amanda Shires and Yola as well as special guests Ruby Amanfu, Natalie Hemby and Katie Herzig.
