The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the world premiere of the new play COAL COUNTRY, written by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen with original music by Steve Earle. Directed by Jessica Blank, this riveting new work will begin performances in the Anspacher Theater with a Joseph Papp Free Preview performance on Tuesday, February 18. COAL COUNTRY will run through Sunday, March 29, with an official press opening on Tuesday, March 3.

 PlayMakers Repertory Company presents Zi Alikhan's innovative staging of Ragtime, the musical by Terrance McNally, Stephen Flaherty, and Lynn Ahrens. Ragtime stars Hamilton's Fergie L. Philippe and Theatre Raleigh's Lauren Kennedy and began previews last night (Nov 20). With press opening on Saturday, November 23 at 8:00pm, the show runs through December 15.

The soprano Constance Barron will take part in the world premiere a new work by composer Laura Clayton, Queen of Heaven, Songs To Goddess Inanna with pianist Dr. Donna Coleman at this week's 2019 OutBach Festival of (Mostly) Women's Music at the San Miguel Mission in Santa Fe, NM on Thursday, October 24 at 7:00 PM.

Priya spent 12 years in the United States teaching and informing people about the art of Bharatnatyam. Her experience in theatre extends to acting in a nationally televised serial and choreographing for a play by Terrance McNally staged at the Milwaukee Chamber Theatre.

After a few months of seeing the white and snow-covered ground, I think everyone is ready to have some color brought back into life. While we may be getting to that time of year outside where we start seeing color again, inside at Des Moines Playhouse, you can see a show that is 'Live and in Living Color.' On Friday, I took a ride to the Des Moines Playhouse for their production of 'Catch Me If You Can,' playing through April 14. This production was filled with color both on stage and off. This included color brought in by some amazing performances as well as the set and lighting.
