The internationally-touring riotous, ridiculous, and in-your-face all-women troupe, Broad Comedy, stars Danielle Cohn, Molly Kelleher, Tana Sirois, Carlita Victoria and Katie Goodman. During their John Guare Festival and the World Premiere of Guare's epic Lydie Breeze Trilogy, EgoPo Classic Theater is collaborating with Drexel University's Performing Arts Department for an evening symposium, Future of American Playwriting, Saturday, February 3 at 4 p.m. The panel will feature John Guare and local playwrights Jacqueline Goldfinger, Bruce Graham, and James Ijames. The panel is moderated by Broad Street Review Editor in Chief Wendy Rosenfield. The symposium will be held in the Stein Auditorium in Nesbitt Hall at Drexel University, 3215 Market Street. Funded by a National New Play Network (NNPN) Collaboration Fund Grant, Core Member Theatres Cleveland Public Theatre, InterAct Theatre Company (Philadelphia, PA) and Kitchen Dog Theater (Dallas, TX) have embarked on a groundbreaking playwright exchange project called Cross-Pollination. Through Cross-Pollination, theatres with shared aesthetics and missions identify plays grown in their own backyards poised for larger prominence, pairing their local playwrights with a theatre sharing their artistic values. Each theatre works with a playwright outside its sphere of influence; each playwright develops a relationship with a producing organization to which they otherwise wouldn't have been able to connect. The result is an immediate, meaningful artistic connection between theatres and artists that transcends state lines and logistical limits. For the pilot year of the program, the following pairings have been arranged: James Ijames and his play history of walking (from InterAct Theatre Company) will go to Cleveland Public Theatre in January as part of the Entry Point Festival of New Works (1/18-20); Jonathan Norton and his play A Love Offering (from Kitchen Dog Theater) will go to InterAct Theatre Company in May; and Lisa Langford and her play Rastus & Hattie (from Cleveland Public Theatre) will go to Kitchen Dog Theater in June.

The 1997 British comedy film THE FULL MONTY was such a surprise hit, winning four Academy Awards on this side of the pond, that it was no shock to see it musicalized on the Great White Way only three short years later. For Broadway, the setting had been relocated from Northern England to the Northeast U.S. (Buffalo, New York to be exact), and although the men's drawers continue to be removed, the humorous and heartfelt storyline remains faithfully intact. And fortunately, the same can be said of the current production Uptown Players, Dallas' favorite LGBT-focused theatre company who confidently bares it all for their eager audiences.
