Theatrical press rep extraordinaire Sam Rudy recently announced his retirement from the Broadway scene.  Rudy began his Broadway career as a press assistant for the 1979 play Strider. Since then, his Sam Rudy Media Relations has represented thirteen Broadway shows and many more off-Broadway productions, including Avenue Q and Hamilton.  Some of Rudy's Broadway friends got together to toast his retirement and BroadwayWorld is taking you inside the very special event below!

Last night, Hamilton officially opened in Puerto Rico, with Lin-Manuel Miranda reprising his role as the titular character. Miranda gave a heartfelt curtain call, where he was seen giving his father a kiss before waving a Puerto Rican flag around the stage. Watch the video below!

This evening, the Ellis Island Honors Society (EIHS) hosted the 32nd annual Ellis Island Medals of Honor Ceremony on Ellis Island where over one hundred medalists were recognized for their leadership and service within their communities and professions while exemplifying the values of the American way of life. In addition to the star-studded list of medalists, artist Tony Shafrazi, Fire and Fury author Michael Wolff and Victoria Floethe joined in celebration on Ellis Island.
