Yale Rep Announces Cast and Creative Team for POP!, World Premiere 11/27

YALE REPERTORY THEATRE (James Bundy, Artistic Director; Victoria Nolan, Managing Director) announces complete casting and the creative team for the world premiere of POP!, a new musical with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs, directed by Mark Brokaw. POP! will play for 22 performances only, November 27-December 19. Opening Night is Thursday, December 3.

Sydney Theatre Company's forthcoming production of A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, directed by Liv Ullmann, is to tour to the United States. The production which will play at Sydney Theatre from 1 September to 10 October 2009, featuring STC Co-Artistic Director Cate Blanchett as Blanche DuBois, and will run at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington from 29 October to 21 November 2009 and Brooklyn Academy Of Music (BAM), New York from 27 November to 20 December 2009.

Producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, David Ian and David Mirvish have welcomed Simon Burke to their Toronto production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Burke, a versatile star of stage and screen originally from Australia but with a large body of work in the U.K., will take over the role of Captain von Trapp, having played the role in the West End London production of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, opposite the 'Marias' of Connie Fisher and Summer Strallen.

Playwright Steven Soderbergh's newest play, TOT MOM, surrounding the disappearance and subsequent murder of Florida toddler Caylee Anthony, set to begin previews at the Sydney Theatre Company on December 18, has received considerable backlash from the public who have been uneasy about dramatizing such a controversial subject matter. The production, which played the Sydney Theatre from 1 September to 10 October 2009, featuring STC Co-Artistic Director Cate Blanchett as Blanche DuBois, is now in previews at run at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington from October 29th to November 21st 2009 - with an opening night of October 31 - and Brooklyn Academy Of Music (BAM), New York from November 27th to December 20th 2009. The Washington D.C. engagement is now completely sold out.
